With all that I've heard and read, this is not a joke!

I never played the original but do know a little about it. From what I've heard it was a very popular game. Not sure what this new version will mean as an FPS. Does that mean it is coming to consoles as well? That would be my thought on why they are making the change.

The original was a big game and a really interesting turn based strategy. I played part of it but never finished it.

It was good for the time but now it would make sense as a FPS.

i don't know about that, mikejet. i feel that a fair chunk of what made x-com great is the turn-based tactical fighting... made it strategic, made it so that you cared about the squad you built up.

i have yet to see a FPS effectively model true squads that could die that you, the player, cared about.

regardless, for turn-based x-com fans...

I still love playing ufo defense on my ps1, in fact out of ALL my games on ANY system it gets the most play to this day. Something about this game really hooked me.

All they would need to do for this in my eyes, is ramp up the graphics a bit, maybe a few more movement options in the menu, but really just add more alien species, weapons and things, and new maps and i would be all over it. Chess on crack as i look at it.

This was one of my top five favorite games, and I would sign up for GOG if they would add this beauty to their catalog.

My favorite part was when the aliens assaulted your base and you had to keep them from taking it over.

Ah...good times, good times.

First.. looks really cool and fun, Second 2k and creators of bioshock... two thumbs up.

THIRD i agree with the top comments... this is NOT x-com... which is really strange to me as that is not a name i would think would be used to drive sales, i always thought of the series as a small series, with a small die hard geek fanbase like myself. Do they really think that XCOM instead of another name is going to drive sales or what.

I will play it, but X-com will always be UFO defense to me, nothing like a game of chess amped up on nerd crack to remind me why this is my favorite game of all time.
