Default In-wall speaker wire to sub problems.

Ok, so I'm almost done with my dedicated theater build, and I ran in-wall wiring for every speaker. I chose monoprice wire and speaker plates. I used a double pole post for the sub location and wired it. My sub can be wired by either a direct connected sub plug or the red/black connection. The master plate at the receiver end from monoprice only has a dedicated sub plug, and my receiver only has a direct connect for subs.

My question is: how do I use the inwall wiring for my sub with my current receiver?

Thanks for reading guys!

From my post build research, the consensus is to run a coax cable or sub cable. I can fish the wires, as I had to run a drop ceiling for the theater any way. I just was curious if I could use the existing speaker wires.

how about you list the both the sub and receiver brands and models (throw up a picture of each or a link to pictures).

my initial thoughts, without knowing the info that i asked for is to run a dedicated, shielded, sub cable!

did you not know what gear (both receiver & sub) you would be using and what they needed or what you wanted to supply everything with before you did the work?

best of luck to you?

Sub is Mirage OMNI S-8, and the receiver is a Yamaha RX-V 663.

My first thoughts were that I could run the speaker wires since my sub can be used with them. I simply spaced my receiver connection when designing my theater. Running a shielded cable would not be too much of an issue, since I still have decent access via ceiling.

those high level inputs on the speaker are to be used from your left & right speaker outputs. there is a dedicated RCA sub terminal input. i recommend that you buy a dedicated sub cable from monoprice (do good measurements and get longer than you need) and connect it to the receiver's sub out and your good to go. put your power mode to auto!

Well crap.

I'm buying a nice cable from monoprice and hooking this up properly. Thanks on the input solarrdadd.

"Sub cable" is the same thing as...

Composite/component* video
Digital coax
The "cable" from your sat/cable provider.

Most people in-walling RG6(or 59) buy bulk. Then terminate the ends in F or RCA. And...there are F to RCA adapters.

(Also, CL/CM ratings tend to only exist on "bulk" and composite/component*. Digital coax and subwoofer are rarely made CL/CM)

*Obviously...triplicate.

here you go, monoprice sub (or other digital types) cable from 6' ($3.52) to 100' ($18.39) all CL2 rated and pre-terminated, 75ohm, for inwall installation. hope this helps.
