India/Bollywood Disney Blu-ray in India

Does anyone know when Disney is going to release its animation catalogue in Blu-ray in India with optional hindi language?

Read somewhere that Disney has decided to break away from its long standing local partner Excel Home Videos and adopt the direct-to-retail model, where an in-house team will do the marketing and sales and bulk of the distribution itself.

So what happens when they go back to the vault and nobody has released them over there on Blu Ray? Sleeping Beauty is already in the vault, so presumably you have to wait another 6 years to get Sleeping Beauty???

We Indians are quite used to such step motherly treatment when it comes to home video.

This is terrible! Sleeping Beauty, Pinocchio, and Snow White are amongst the MUST-OWN titles for any Blu-Ray fan out there. The amount of work that went into the,... well, just read the Blu-Ray.com reviews and you'll see.

I hope India gets a move on with it. Otherwise you guys should definitely import them. I can't wait for the next set of classic titles.

Simple. We buy a Region A blu ray player and import from Amazon before the title returns to the vault

+1 So much for the stupid Region locking policies of studios such as Disney, Fox and MGM.

Self promotion is okay to a certain extent, but only as long as it is not totally 'in your face'. I suppose Bollywood Blu-ray needs to learn the art of being subtle.

Can anyone guide me why my posts are deleted. Like others, I too simply post updates on blu-ray. I don't know how many of you will be able to read this one ! Read it before it gets deleted again.

Better to purchase the US version of Disney Blu-rays. Why? Simply because most of them feature 24-bit full blown audio in comparison to the international versions which are trimmed down to 16-bit. Keeps you satisfied psychologically.

The following titles released in Region B & C territories feature 16-bit audio:

Pirates of the Caribbean 1,2 & 3
National Treasure 1&2
Pearl Harbor
Cars
Ratatouille

If you know for a fact that your posts are being deleted, ask the moderator of the forum personally. But if I had to guess, it could be because you have 3 sequential posts in a row. In the future, come back and edit the original post with more information instead of creating a new one immediately if no one else replied after you.

Anyway, back on topic, are the Disney combo packs only a North American thing then?

Thank-you very much for the info. It was really very helpful to me ! Certain things like not posting sequential posts and editing them instead of creating a new one, I was really ignorant about it.

yeah back to Disney, combo packs are currently only a North American thing !

'The Princess and the Frog' Blu-Ray released by Disney in India is a combo pack that includes the movie in SD on a DVD. The BD is Region coded for 'Region B & C'.

I wish they had decided on the Diamond Collection back when they did Sleeping Beauty, 'cause I really don't like abrupt cover changes and re-releases, which is what I think they're doing with that title. Anyway, can't wait for this. I lose my VHS when I was a child and since then never got back any kind of copy. I saw a leaked HD Trailer for this on YouTube a long time ago and it was just amazing.

damoresh -> SD as in Standard Definition on a DVD.

I think it's wise to import the American versions as well. Disney of all places knows what they're doing most of the time and we really DO get quality releases with plenty of extras (check the reviews here if you will). That is if you're interested in the BEST possible video and audio, which most people are.
