Default HD format demographics

Demographics

I would love to see something on the demograpics of who is buying Blu Ray and who is buying HD DVD. I am sure that it will show that 20-35 year olds are buying the PS3 and there for watching Blu Ray movie. I don't know what exactly the demographic would be for HD DVD but I would have to assume it would be pretty much the same. I know 3 people who have X Box 360's and of those 3 people 2 of there X Box 360 are in the shop or it does not work. One of those people is stronly thinking about selling his 360 and getting a PS3 so He also thinks Paramout made the wrong move going HD DVD exclusive as do all of us. Yes he does know the PS3 plays Blu ray movies that is the main reason he is thinking about getting one since few good games have come out yet. Soon we may have another grunt to help fight in this war.

Downloading

Microsoft hopes the future way of getting movies is to download them, I on the other hand think the future is Blu Ray, well at least for the next 12 -15 years . I don't know how many times my computer has a virus and the hard drive has had to be wiped. Doing so would mean you would loose god knows how many movies. As I read in another post the bandwith is not wide enough to down load movies in a timely fashion. I don't know about you but I do not want to wait around a day, day and a half for a movie to download when I can go down and buy it at Future Shop / Bust Buy and have it finished in 4hrs of when I want to get it.

Movie Sales numbers skewed?

To me the sales numbers for Blu Ray are a bit skewed any way since we don't have a lot of major releases that are coming our way thanks to Warner Brothers. The three that immediatly pop into my head are the Matrix Trilogy, Batman Begins, and V for Vendetta. Even though I was not a huge fan of the Matrix Trilogy there are millions of people who are. I can not wait to hear Batman Begins in PCM, it will be sweet.

If I downloaded movies like that or media files, I would never download them onto a shared harddrive with everything. Do you realize how big those movies are going to be? like 8 gigs minimum for each one. If i were to download media files like crazy, I would do what all of my friends are doing, and that's buying either an external HDD, or having a secondary drive, seperate from the O/S drive.

Therefore if a format was needed you would only reinstall the O/S never corrupting or even messing up the Media Files. To place everything onto one drive is Crazy. Anyone who actually builds their computer is sure to agree. The HDD contains the most moving parts on your whole system. Out of all things that could fail I belive the HDD has the highest percentage of failing on you. Therefore you shouldn't keep all of your eggs in one basket, especailly if you're downloading files like mad, torrents, movies, music any data source of value.
