Default opening a phat PS3

My phat PS3 uses it's fan more than it used to and it's quite loud too, so I was wondering about opening it up and giving it a clean to remove any dust inside that the fans aren't clearing.

I'm sure I could find instructions on the web, but I wondered if anyone had done this before; was it straightforward?

Thanks.

Don't bother opening it. There is an easy fix for your problem. Every six months or so I use one of those dust remover spray cans to dust out my PS3. You can buy it from wal mart for like 6 bucks. It comes with a skinny spray attachment that makes it real easy to spray out all the vents. I've done it a bunch of times with my PS3 and it works great. I've never had any problems.

Just make sure that when you do clean out your PS3, that it hasn't been running for a while and is cool. Then just go outside and spray away. Hit every open vent well and that should spray out all the dust that has accumulated. You'll be amazed how much dust can get inside. The less dust inside, the cooler your system will run, the quieter the fans will be. Hope that helps

It's really simple. As long as you take your time and not rush it's really straight forward. As long as you know that you'll void your warranty (if you've still got one) by doing so.
I used Gilksy's guide: http://wheretobuyps3.com/index.php/tag/gilksy-pdf/
It help me alot!

Thanks to both of you, I'll try the spray can first (easiest option!) and see how it goes.
