Default Just saw 3D demo on 75" laserview DLP!

Its been over a month since I picked up my 3D Samsung so I figured it was time to go by Ultimate Electronics and see whats new. The manager recognised me and told me to come see what they just got done hooking up. It was the new 75" laserview DLP mitsubishi running a 3D demo loop. So yeah I want to check it out. As soon as I put on the glasses...pow everything is super 3D! I just said WOW and the manager started laughing in agreement. They were showing some dance 3D movie some cartoons, and the preview for the 3D christmas movie. I only got like 5 min on it before the wife told me we had to go. In that time I noticed a few things. First the 75" screen is really a great size for 3D. I have 55" in a spare bedroom and its plenty big but for a living room 75" is much better. The next thing I noticed is the laserview DLP really does a great job with colors and brightness while in 3D, it really looked awesome. As for ghosting I was really looking for it and for the most part it was non existent but I did see 2 pretty bad ghosting scenes for a second or two that I feel were probably just how they made this demo loop. Overall I was very impressed with this tv, I have seen it running 2D before and thought it looked good but it really blew me away in 3D. The price for the tv was about 6k though but the guy said the kit would work on any mitsubishi DLP made in the last 3yrs. Thats cool because Im pretty sure I have seen 65"-73" DLPs for $1500-2000! Anyone interested in 3D should really check these out.
By the way it uses the same great glasses as the Samsung 3D tvs use.

The laserview DLP is different technology than the standard DLP that Mits put out prior to the laserview. The video quality is much better on the laserview.

I noticed it was a bit brighter than the regular DLPs. Other than that Im not sure how its a better picture. I wonder how their standard DLPs would perform in 3D.

Like the name, the new Mits uses a laser instead of a bulb. The laser is MUCH more accurate and bulbs no longer need to be replaced.

I got a 65-inch LaserVue this year for a fantastic price(approx. 60% off) for the quality. I can't wait to get the adapter for my TV!

What about the price then? Is it priced at a high premium?

Yeah, the price premium is huge. In my opinion, Mits overpiced them and lost a lot of the market because of that. I'll never buy another Mits after the promise module debacle.

75" sounds perfect and I've really wanted one of these, but disappointed it's essentially only single chip DLP and at the price. They could have justified the price if they went 3 chip DLP, perhaps, and it was really a high end RPTV. I still love the concept of RPTV and hate the flat panel craze that largely sacrifices performance for aesthetics.

With laser there isn't a need for 3-chip DLP, or a color wheel for that matter.

Also, the 3D effect on bulb mitsubishis is also outstanding, better than the LCDs by a mile.
