Default ps3 and projectors

Is it ok to use a ps3 with a projector because someone said it won't project a full image.

I do and it works perfectly, a prjector is the same as a plasma or lcd, bar it makes a much bigger image. Check out my gallery to see a the results of a budget 1080p unit projector (and it looks even better then those pics would suggest).

PS3 works great with a projector for blu-ray content. However, DVDs leave a lot to be desired because the PS3 is not the best upscaler out there.

Lol me too. Dam this blu-ray crack.

P.S. PS3 is my dedicate media player for my projector and everything is AMAZING.

Just my 2 cents, don't listen to Microsoft employees.

I can't confirm it as yet, only what I've read! I'll get a chance maybe tonight to watch a DVD on the Oppo in order to give some honest feedback on it.

As for upgrading DVDs to blus, I'm with you guys. About 100 of my blus are of the "upgrade from DVD" category. However, not all DVDs are available on blu (cough cough STAR WARS cough cough). So DVDs still get some use in my setup. And I can tell you, the PS3's DVD playback doesn't look great on a 100"+ screen.

Funny, I bought the PS3 as my BD/DVD player partly because it got such good reviews regarding upscaling.

I was pleasantly surprised at how good DVD can look projected on a 120" screen. Well mastered DVD's upscaled by my PS3 are very watchable.

Regarding the OP's concern, my front projector and PS3 play nice and always display the correct aspect ratio. If there's a movie filmed in 16:9, it fills up the screen. Maybe your friend was confused by films shot in other aspect ratios.

Default PS3 and Front Projects=Sweet!

I have my PS3 hooked to a DLA-RS1, with a firehawk G3 119 inch diag screen and most, if not all of my DVDs play and look great. Not blu great of course, but as I've written before, some movies for me are fine as DVDs, especially from the 5 dollar bin. There are exceptions that I've learned the hard way, like The Lost Boys, sucked on DVD, so I traded up to blu.

I had a PS3 connected to my projector, but have since replaced it with a stand-alone.... although not a high-end stand-alone by any means, I greatly prefer it to the PS3 for my main movie watching..... but the PS3 will do a good job nonetheless, and you shouldn't have any reservations about it..... It'll do a fine job, and whoever told you it "wouldn't project a full image" is completely uninformed.

I use a PS3 with my front projector and I've had zero problems. (Just in case 10 other people telling you that wasn't enough )

I replaced my PS3 with a stand-alone because I got tired of the jet plane (the stand alone, BD65, is absolutely silent). However, I GREATLY miss the PS3. It is STUPID FAST, the remote is EXTREMELY RESPONSIVE and have an INTUITIVE LAYOUT.
