Default Any Point Using Blu Ray with a-log tv?

I have a pretty good a-log tv, and I'm pretty pleased with the picture on it, which is why I haven't jumped to an HD TV yet. It's just a 27-inch flat screen. I know the progressive scan feature on my DVD player won't work on it, but will Blu Ray work, and, if so, will it improve the look of a DVD on an a-log tv?

In theory yes.
The player 'remasters' the source (DVD) and then sends the signal to your TV, so you should notice a quality improvement.

You really need an HDTV to get any significant benefit from Blu-ray. When it comes to standard DVDs they should still look the same as before unless you have an HDTV and the Blu-ray player supports upconversion to HD.

I wouldn't expect any improvement at all on a non-HD tv, as it is the TV is below even what DVD's output, the only real advantage of HD is the resolution, a DVD is profesionaly reduced in resolution to fit on a DVD by the movie studios, Blu-ray isn't compressed on the disk for 1080p and thus is reduced on the fly by the blu-ray player, I can't image the blu-ray player doing better, or even as good of a job as the studios do.

About the only improvement you could possibly hope for is that color depth and original image quality starts at a much higher level within the HD format. This translates into a sharper overall final image. While, you don't get the full benefit of this incredible boost in image quality, it is significant in that if you are seeing compression artifacts or lackluster color on some DVDs, you should not see that with HD discs - even on your analog set.

HDTV is more than simply resolution - but resolution is a big part of it.
