Default New plasma question

It's been a couple of years since I got my 80u, I have a Panny S2 coming in on monday for pickup, but it's been quite a while since my last plasma so I was wondering is the break in period still necessary for the newer plasma's?

Based on what I read it's a good idea to run it for 100 hours break in..

Sigh, I suppose you're right, better safe than sorry, was just hoping after the past couple of years things would have changed.

I have two panny plasmas and have never broke them in. I have no issues at all with either. I say enjoy the best blacks while you can. Btw, I never noticed the black level rising on my plasmas.

You two are right, Pannasonic brakes them for you before shipping so no need for a break in period.

I don't believe there has ever been any valid confirmation from Panasonic that this is being done. I could be wrong, and they may have added a 100 hr break-in at the factories recently, but I've never seen anything other than unsubstantiated comments from a few posters.

I'm not too tech savvy with tv model years, would the s2 fall under 2010 models?

yes,

and yes Panny does do a semi break in. However if you want to calibrate your TV its best to do break in slides.

Break in slides also help evenly age all colors being represented. Important if you want to absolute best out of your set.

100-150 hours is a good amount to age the phoshpors and calibrate

Regardless of Panasonic reps saying that they actually break in the televisions, I would still do it myself as a precaution.

100-150 hours is the right way to go.

Do as you wish, they are still doing a 100 hour break in on each one of them.
