Law enforcement sources tell TMZ Alba was pulled over for speeding this AM in Beverly Hills -- and during the stop, we're told Alba blamed her lead foot on the nearby paparazzi.

We're told Alba -- who was extremely cooperative and smiley during the stop -- was eventually let go with only a warning ... but was told that pap-avoiding is no reason to break the law.

Probably because when you smile you pass gas and offend the traffic cop.

When you are a celebrity, you have lots of advantages. Not having to pay speeding tickets must be one of them!

The only time I got out of a ticket was when I got pulled over, I see a familiar car drive by the cop car and my truck, the car parks in front of mine, my dad walks out, and talks the guy out of giving me a ticket. I had to walk home and do chores for the next 3 hours.

You probably would've gotten off anyway if you were young enough for your father to talk the cop out of the citation.
