Default Photo's on a thumb drive

I want a new desktop on my PS3. I have photos on a thumb drive I checked that they were there. Absolutely no photos show on my PS3 I have over I would say 300 images easy yet the PS3 say there are non.

I have played most of them in my OPPO they say their JPG is that different than JPEG. I had them in a folder I even copied so they were out of a header file any one.

It should not be that damn hard.

JPG is just another way of storing data like JPEG.

Do you want them on your PS3?
How are you doing it now?

How are you doing it now? how do I get images on to my PS3 I have not put a single image on the PS3, except the ones I've gotten off PSN.

I know it's reading the Thumb drive because I can access MP3's I have on it

To put photos on PS3 is simple.

1. Insert USB drive
2. Go to photos icon on XMB and find the USB icon.
3. Press
4. Photos should come up, press again and go to copy multiple.
5. You may find some of the photos will not copy and then you have to start again so do it in batches of 25.

No, not the same. There are many different names for file storage for photos, same as video.

If the above does not work, PM me and I will get you a more detailed list of what to do. It took me bloody ages to work it out.

If my memory serves me correctly, .jpg and .jpeg are actually the same. Long ago (before Windows XP) file extensions had to be 3 characters, so .jpg was used for JPEG images. Now that 4 letter extensions are allowed (Windows XP and on I think) the correct .jpeg is often seen. Both are common nowadays.

But ya, if you don't put the pictures in the correct folder hierarchy on the thumb drive, the PS3 won't see them by default, you need to hit over the thumb drive icon and select "Display All" to show all the folders on the drive. Then just navigate through them to the correct folder.

I *think* the right folder hierarchy needed to see pictures/videos/etc by default is this:

Folder named "PS3" in the root of the drive. Inside this folder is:
"MUSIC" folder where you put music
"PICTURE" folder for pictures
"VIDEO" folder for video.

Someone will correct me if the folder names are wrong, but you can also check the owners manual.

IIRC, you just rename the folder "PICTURES" and it should show up. I don't think it should be within a sub-folder either. You should be able to see the "PICTURES" folder when you open the USB drive. Make sure it's all caps too.

If all else fails, try saving a pic FROM your HDD to your USB drive, and it'll put itself in the proper folder. Then, just move everything into that new folder.

BTW, I clicked on this thread just to tell you that there shouldn't be an apostrophe in your title. "Photos on a thumb drive" would be correct in that context. It hurts to look at

Pressing triangle will display the content of the USB stick as long as it is compatable with PS3.

I've copied over hundreds of photo's in one go from an external drive and they all display on my PS3 just fine - they are all .jpg format In fact almost every digital photo I've ever taken is on my PS3 hard drive; it's a great way to look through them.
