Default Best subwoofer for movies costing under $800?

What is the best sub for under 800 for movies I watch 75% moives and 25% music.

I have a pioneer elite sc27, fronts definitive 7002 and center 2500.

I will say the SVS PB or PC-12 NSD, but then again, I have 2 of these. For around $650 (shipped), IMO, you won't find a better sub for the price. You may find as good, but I can add that SVS customer service is excellent, and if you have a problem, they will gladly work with you in getting it fixed, either by phone calls or supplying new parts free of charge with no questions asked (within the warranty time of course.) Great company, better sub!

Have two SVS PB12-NSD and love them

Previous subs were Velodyne DPS-12 and Velodyne DLRS 5000 (15").

ONE SVS beats them hands down.

LoJack,

I am gonna completely AGREE on this EPIK sub

http://www.epiksubwoofers.com/legend.html

You can get dual subs(thats 2 subs) for $899, but each sub has TWO(2) 12" drivers (thats 4 12" drivers) that have Opposed side-firing drivers to cancel out cabinet vibration.

And they can extend down to 16-18 hz when placed in a room..... put one on each side of the room, and your heart may skip a beat...

Sorry, but for the money, this is the way to go.... hands down at the moment

The below post is from the AVS Forum, I did a lot of research and forum posting to finally decide on my eD A5-350. Also all online reviews were outstanding on the sub as well. I cannot comment on any sub as all I have owned beside HTIB subs is the Klipsch KSW-10, which was weak. CraigSub posted this in 2006, so how outdated is the info, I dunno, most have improved on thier designs, yet some designs remain untouched. Anyways, its one more resource out there to confuse you The below test was a blindfold test of sub manufacturers, builders, and reviewers.

From Craigsub on AVS Forum

Here is the scoring summary with the Home Theater score and Music score, respectively shown as (HT-M).

Prices and whether the items are available Internet Direct or from a store are now included. Keep in mind that ID pricing will usually be firm, or slightly discounted, where some BM products will see substantial discounts. BM = Brick and Mortar. ID = Internet Direct. ID/SI = shipping included.

Elemental Designs A7-900 ($2200 ID/SI): 116 points (63-53)
Epik Conquest ($1599 ID): 112 points (60-52)

I agree. The best subwoofer is a DIY passive subwoofer powered with a pro amplifier and it will be significantly below $800.

Alternatively, you can buy two of these 15" subwoofers for $400 each. Two of them will outperform any single $800 subwoofer.

Yeah, I looked hard at Epik subs for a moment before I ended up getting my Sunfire. If I hadn't gotten such a great deal on my sub and had to spend more I probably would've gone with one. They've discontinued the sub I was looking at though, but yeah...Epik subs are a bit of sleeper. All of the Epik subs in the Craigsub list performed admirably, and they give you a lot for your money.
