Question North Face Backpack + 17" Dell Studio Laptop

Needs some help here guys. I have a Studio 17 (1749) laptop and my off site messenger bag won't do. I can cram it in there but it's a PITA! So I am in need of a new bag. I want to stick with North Face as I love their design and quality. I am looking at the Box Shot back pack. My main question if anyone has that bag, is if the side pockets can hold water bottles ok? I read a review that stated it cannot. That's my only concern.

Any other suggestions for a bag that will fit a 17" laptop? Mainly North Face or something aesthetically the same? I don't like Targus or most others. I guess I am picky. I will listen to suggestions if you have any.

All help appreciated!

Thanks.

I can't answer the first part of that, about the water bottles...

Would you be into something by Tumi? They make really nice laptop bags. A bit pricey, but rugged as all heck. I haven't tried anything by Jansport, but I've had a number of their backpacks over the years and it looks like their laptop bag line might be OK. Their backpacks are a nice combination of good price and good durability so I would assume they'd follow that model for the laptop bags.

Try Crumpler. They usually have decent looking bags.

Also, I'm not sure if Tamrac has backpacks, but some of their bags are customizable. You may want to check them out.

I have and love The North Face Angstrom 30 backpack.

The pocket closest to your back can either be used for a hydration system or for laptop storage. I brought it as my carry-on to France for a week, and ended up using it for both regular treks and as a diaper bag. Very versatile with many pockets/options and even comes with a rain cover.

are you into camera's or photography as well?..if so I recommend the lowerpro Fastpack 350

I have the fastpack 250..which only holds up to a 15" laptop, the 350 can hold a 17"
plus your camera and still extra space for other stuff..water bottle, a change of clothes..and stuff

Thanks guys. I am going to check out some of these suggestions. I keep coming back to the Box Shot back pack - even though it's $100 bucks. Ugh. I have looked at quite a few laptop cases and getting some in the 17" range is hard. I should have done a 15" instead. Lol

I am used to my Off Site messenger bag and love it. Tons of pockets for storing stuff, the bottle holders on each side which I use every day. Front pocket, lots of goodies. If only it were an inch or two bigger it would be perfect!
