PS3 picture freeze - Blu-ray Forum

I have noticed a a number of films which i have watched for the second time (first time no problems) that the picture has frozen for a about 5 seconds and then okay. Has anyone else experianced this and what was the solution?

I haven't experienced this, but is it when you watch BDs, DVDs, or both?

BD's. Is there a recommended cleaner for PS3's

I have had the same problem with BD but it only happened a few times and hasn't happened since the updates.

I have never had a frame freeze on the PS3 even with my 5 year old playing it when I am at work, thankfully my wife makes sure he handles everything properly.

I'll check the FW on the system. I think its 1.80

I've never had that happen yet on mine, out of 70 BD's.

5 seconds is a long time. A full second is typical on SD discs as they change layers in the middle of a film but that's it.

I've had the freeze frame issue with the PS3 on Crank but after restarting the PS3 everything was fine. Most likely it's just a glitch and not a dirty disc or laser.

I had this happen to me once. I just used a standard DVD laser cleaner and it never happened again.

I don't know if you should use a standard DVD cleaner, or if there are special Blu-Ray laser cleaners.
