Interesting, but is this likely to have English subtitles?

Planète HD just upped some captures from the BD.

I think we can all agree it's FUBAR.

I tend to be cautious with the 720p captures from Planète HD, but it's difficult not to be pessimistic here -- it looks like a heavily DNR'd DVD upscale.

For me, the issue is more the SD macroblocks showing up everywhere.

Sorry for bump on such an old thread but, has anyone had any experience with this release? - https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/La-Re...lu-ray/283586/
Hiventy did a 4k restoration back in 2020 here . I don't think this release is from this restoration though, does anyone know when or if this restoration will be released?

Superb upgrade and resto. And people were sooo doubtful...! And it's Eng-subtitled! Maybe a bit over-contrasted, but still excellent. It's amazing to see how many scratches aren't there anymore.

Not crazy about the cover art but god damn is the 4K gorgeous. The Criterion looks like DVD next to it. Great work!

Some information of interest; The 4K UHD looks great. But beware that the accompanying Blu-ray is *not* from the new restoration. It looks like dnr'ed crap and unlike the UHD has no english subtitles(!). This is not a problem for most people who only watch the UHD, but I'm of the opinion that if you're going to release a dual-format release, use the same master on both discs or just drop the extra disc completely.

Thanks for the info. My copy is en route. Fortunately, I'm only interested in the UHD.

Hi everyone, quick question if anyone knows whether this French Blu-ray version from 2021 has English subs?

https://www.amazon.fr/La-Regle-du-je...A1X6FK5RDHNB96

This site says no, Amazon.fr says "Sous-titres: Anglais".

No help really, but DVDcompare says no subs at all...
https://dvdcompare.net/comparisons/film.php?fid=26166

The 2022 ESC 4K UHD has English subs for the 4K disc only, none on the enclosed Blu-ray.

It does, confirmed here in the presentation section.

There’s also a BFI edition in Britain that I have and can recommend.
