Default Paradigm CC-100

So i have the chance to pick up the paradigm CC-100 center speaker for $65. Have any of you heard of this model from paradigm? Anyone heard it? I have been trying to find info on it but am out of luck in that respect, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Part of their older Monitor series, I think - unsure how old, though...

But then it won't be timbre matched and you'll have to upgrade the fronts and... meh. Unless someone here really recommends 'em I would hold on it.

*edit* Just saw Lucy's response. Hell- what kind of shape is it in? $65 is nothing.

I have been using Paradigms for 10 years and I have the cc-70 from the era you are talking about. I have used the cc-70 this whole time, because it was a gift to me and it fits in the space I have. I only wish it was a little fuller sounding...which the cc-100 would be.

The cc-100 would either be Black ash - Cherry - or blonde. Either way, a well kept Paradigm will only get better.

Good luck and enjoy.

I would expect it should sound better and at $65 you can probably sell it and get your money back if it doesnt

thanks for the feedback, much appreciated. So this speaker is probably around 10 years old. I would assume that the cc-100 would have similar specs to your cc-70? do you know the specs of your cc-70? thanks once again

I was going to say what Aramis said, that you shouldn't get it just to get it and because it won't be matched with the Sony's (not by a long shot) - but if you are going to upgrade to Paradigm in the future - this is a great way to start...

Okay...here we go.

1999-2000 Paradigm CC-70 v.2

Amplifier range - 15-80 watts
Typical Program: 60 Watts Max
Impedance: Compatible with 8 Ohms
Magnetically Shielded
Made in Canada (cold voicing - great for sci-fi - works with everything though)

I honestly have no complaints about this center. I would have bought a larger one, to match my Mini-monitors, but my cousins bought this for my birthday that year, so I kept it. If I were to knock it at all, I would say that it can be a bit tinney sounding at times, but that is because of the size. The CC-100 won't sound tinney at all.

Also...keep in mind with timbre matching that Canadian speakers (like German speakers) are voiced cold, so everything has a really tight response. If your fronts are American (voiced big...great for adventure movies) your dialogue with come through a little sharper, but it won't kill you, especially for 65 dollars.

Hell...if you buy it and hate it and it is in great condition, I might consider buying it off you!!!

Good luck and enjoy.

I don't feel you can go wrong with it.

thanks so much for taking the time to respond back with that info! i really appreciate it! I am going to get the center tomorrow. I am excited about it, for $65 it seems like a heck of a deal, even though it is 10 years old i bet it will still sound better than the sony i have now! I will have to let you know how it sounds! thanks once again!

oh no issues with the sony, it is working just fine. I am really just interested in seeing how this paradigm will sound. I have heard nothing but great things about paradigms and figured that even though this center i am looking at might be older, it is a paradigm and it is only $65, just interested is all

Right on, I was curious because if you were having any issues, I wanted to know so I could be on the look out, you know.

I understand, I am considering moving my 5000's to my bedroom and getting some new speakers all together, except the surrounds.... IDK, don't know if the wife will let me drop 1K+ on 3 speakers anytime soon. Hawaii and carpet are the biggest issues at the moment... ya know.

For the record i just got rid of a Paradigm CC-270.I loved this speaker.
it was so clear and bright.
If your thinking CC-100 i say look for the 200 or even the 300
