United Kingdom Brideshead Revisited on BD: Amazon UK

Hey guys, does anyone know if this is region-locked? It's the new version with Emma Thompson... hits Amazon UK tomorrow, the 9th.

The studio is 2 Entertain (BBC) but I'm wondering if it'll play here in the US...

We won't know for sure until it's been tested, but most if not all 2 Entertain BDs have been region-free up to now.

I'd like to know this as well. Any confirmation would be appreciated.

I decided to take the plunge and order this BD with the hope that it will follow prior 2 Entertain (BBC) releases and be region free. I've been wanting this on Blu-ray since I saw it in the theater, and it doesn't seem to be a title that will be jumped on by the masses to see if it's region locked or not, so I guess I'll do it. I'll let you know...

I sure hope I didn't just throw away nearly $30.

I'm still waiting for mine to arrive, which should be any day now. I'm thrilled you confirmed it to be region free! Thank you!

Edit: Just got my copy!

The menus for this are very clunky, unless I'm doing something incorrectly. They're just words, with a female voice saying how many words are on a page, and it's frustrating clicking through them. Is this typical for a UK release?

The menu is clunky, with big giant letters -- but then a message comes up that says "Press Enter for Audio Options" -- and once you hit enter, the normal menu comes up.

I played part of the film itself, and can confirm that it works on a Region-A player.

What do you mean "normal menu"? I hit enter on my PS3, but only got another screen with the words written out and a woman reading them off to me.

I'm using a regular BD Player & not a PS3... by "normal menu" I mean the same menu you'd get with a regular DVD: the pretty picture with the various options along the bottom.

That's extremely odd. I was never able to get the sort of menu you would get from a regular BD -- only the one with big words and a woman speaking the options. I'll have to try it on my standalone player. Thanks for replying.

Default Brideshead Revisited Aspect Ratio

Sorry to revive an old thread, but can anybody confirm aspect ratio for the UK blu-ray please. I have a nasty suspicion that it might be cropped to 1.78:1. Thanks
