Disney Inside Out 3D Blu-ray (2015) [Region Free]

Inside Out is available for pre-order on Blu-ray 3D at the following retailers:

Amazon
Best Buy
Target

Has anyone seen this in theaters yet? Cinema Blend apparently wasn't too impressed with the 3D:

Default Inside Out 3D Blu-Ray

It appears to be a 4-disc set (3 Blu-Ray and 1 DVD).

Truth be told, the previews have not been too inspiring to me. I've seen all the PIXAR films in the theater, and this one is giving me the same feeling that I got from the previews of CARS and CARS 2, neither of which I am very fond of. I will get the disc through the Disney Movie Club if it's offered in its 3D incarnation for the sake of keeping my collection complete (I am surprised that Disney is releasing it in 3D, but I am assuming that it's at PIXAR's encouragement/insistence that it be done so.)

Where are you getting the 4-disc info? BB doesn't say how many discs for either the 3D or 2D versions.

Still, I hope this is correct -- though I won't fully believe it till it's officially announced. Pixar hasn't had a new release since before Frozen, so there's still a chance they will be an exception to the "3D ban" like Marvel.

The 3D in this is pretty much non-existent. I took my glasses off a few times and the picture was almost normal.

Interesting. Is it Pixar that has a say in why this is getting a 3D release when none of the regular Disney titles do, similar to how there are 3D releases of the Marvel films? Or could it be that Disney will start with the 3D releases again?

why does this NOT surprise me - 3D conversion from Pixar is largely hit or miss (mostly the latter) - the only one that truly struck me as being remarkable was 'Monsters Inc.' (Dreamwork Animation's integration of 3D drags Disney's efforts through the mud in my opinion - [Pixar's retort]: "it's all about the story and characters" - yeah (wah-wah-wah) Dreamwork's movies are at least visually exciting).

you also made my decision to forgo the 3D in the theater a lot easier, and just hear the Dolby Atmos mix minus the 3D since Arclight Bethesda is staggering the two and only combining them for select screenings during the day. (i.e, at bad inconvient times)

That sucks about the 3D because the movie is getting rave reviews.

I imagine that if Disney gets enough Pre-orders, they'll release a 3D version in the US, if the pre-orders are any indication that they might be changing their mood about 3D blu ray in the US.

Thanks Chaotic. Sounds like mild 3D. Pixar doesn't want to strain anyone's eyes from most of the Pixar 3D I've seen, and in the process, defeats the purpose of 3D. Maybe Pixar's taking limited audience polls where the parents say "Tone down the 3D so you don't strain my kid's eyes." But if they say it's the story and characters that determine when the 3D should improve or not in the movie; 3D storytelling.

Up was a good example of Pixar 3D storytelling. I remember taking my 3D glasses off to see why the 3D was so mild "barely 3D" most of the movie. Then during the emotional or exciting scenes, the 3D amps up a little.

How did you like the movie itself?

Next up from Pixar: The Good Dinosaur.

Shaun the Sheep is quite a funny movie, but it shouldn't and doesn't need 3D to enhance it

I agree with the 3D not being all that great. That aside, this is Pixar's best movie. It has emotional depth that no other kids movie has ever achieved. Think of the first few minutes of Up stretched into 95 minutes. It is a coming of age story that has missing mostly from movies in the past 20 years.

Thanks, good to hear. Of those trailers, which do you feel has the strongest 3D layers?

Thanks. From the trailers, it looks like a comedy about emotions, but glad to hear there is more depth to it than meets the eye.

I do think this will be an exception to the rule the studio has set when it comes time to release inside out to the home consumer 3D market because its pixar, pixar is exempt from going on moratorium/the vault, along with marvel/lucasfilm as theirs don't follow the parent companies practices.

the rule as we all know is if its a non marvel 3D release, its banned from going to the home consumer market unless it occurs through international importation on our part, or it occurs within the last 5 years 3D went to the home from the studio.

Inside out may very well be the one that makes pixar exempt from this, continues marvel's exemption (As long as the parent company doesn't control the project, like it did with Big Hero 6), among any number of outcomes.

Disney may be merciful enough to pixar this time and give it a release to home, depending on how much say pixar was given by the mouse.

Definitely picking this up in 3D just to show Disney that there is still a market for it, even though people are saying the 3D is lackluster here.

I now also want to double dip on Up in 3D, once I heard that was a standout 3D presentation, and I know that was their first foray into 3D, so that could explain why it was their boldest attempt.

Inside Out is a masterpiece and their best film since Up imo. Terrific 3d too with high medium to strong depth throughout (with plenty of wide parallax shots, especially during the opening Pixar short, Lava). The 3d is also used creatively in a hysterical scene
[Show spoiler]where they are in the abstract zone and squish the 3d to make a joke about 2d lol

And Cinema Blend's 3d reviews are mostly garbage. They don't know or care about 3d there and I refuse to consider their opinions.

I also really hope that 3d inside out bluray listing is real. I want Disney 3d bluray back!

On a fairly unrelated note, I was searching for the Up 3D Blu-ray on Best Buy's website, and this was one of the top results.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000CN...ID=51QVG8WGAFL

Ironically, I've linked to its Amazon listing, instead of Best Buy's. It's a more credible source.

It's a Pilates video with a woman wearing no pants on the cover. Yeah, random observation. But my wife felt that I should share that with you fine folks. Heh
