I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask but I have a denon receiver and whenever I play a movie the sound is extremely loud when there's action scenes but very low when people are talking.
Does anyone know what the issue might be? Thanks |

The problem you are experiencing is not unique and it is partly due to the high dynamic range of the audio codecs available on blu-ray movies and partly due to the crazy audio engineers who tend to overdo everything. Even in most movie theaters, you have to cover your ears during action scenes and a few seconds or minutes later, you will have to wear hearing aids during conversations. ![]() There is a solution. Your receiver and/or blu-ray player offer a Dynamic Range Control (DRC) or Night Mode. Turn it on. They normally have Low, Medium, and High options. Use them and see if it helps. If that doesn't help, your only other option is hold the remote in your hand and continuosly turn the volume up and down. ![]() ![]() |

look in the receiver menu for gain control over the speakers, you should be able to turn the gain up on the center channel to add a few decibles to the center channel which will enhance the dialog.
However, I agree with BD, that an SPL meter and level matching all your speakers to the same level, say 75bds, would be where Id start. |
