Quote:
Possessed by a spirit in a dying cornfield, a twelve-year-old girl in Nebraska recruits the other children in her small town to go on a bloody rampage and kill all the adults and anyone else who opposes her. A bright high schooler who won’t go along with the plan is the town’s only hope of survival.

Notice that Stephen King’s name is nowhere on the case, not even in the credits on the back. That should tell you everything you need to know here.

Multiple movies in the Children of the Corn franchise I’ve stopped and thought, “Is this the worst movie I’ve ever seen?”

Even it this completely sucks, it somehow won’t be in the bottom-3 of the series. That’s remarkable.

That and this movie was probably shot quick and cheaply so that the producers could keep the rights.

Wow, looking at the director's filmography, he's made a career out of writing or directing remakes. The Thomas Crown Affair, Point Break, Total Recall, etc.

I liked Equilibrium a lot, he also directed Ultraviolet, but that one he seemed to try to please the studio and was a little too generic for me. I'll buy this one. (but I buy a lot poopy stuff!)

Is this decent? At least on par with the fun trashy sequels? I'm still gonna get it most likely

It’s pretty bad. Not Genesis level bad but still bad.

I'm just perplexed at the consistency of bad decisions that continues to haunt this franchise. The first film is not exactly a crown jewel, but it's an alright movie with only low budget aspirations. Beyond that, every movie has been terrible and misguided. Every attempt to dignify the IP ends up in shambles.

So with this at the time surge in Stephen King material, what possessed them to think that Kurt Wimmer was the guy for this project? It's like they do this on purpose to keep this brand a low point in horror.

It says there's deleted scenes on the rear cover. This entire film is just one huge deleted scene. This film has no redeeming qualities and the acting is so bad, but to call it a turd is an insult to turds.

Whomever thought that putting this in to production was a good idea should resign from filmmaking. Poorly written, ill conceived, lacklustre acting and no redeemable characters to shout for. The producers/studio may blame covid, but that's only an excuse for the inexcusable.

Take it from me, but if you're an admirer of the original film, seriously avoid this if you can. If anything, this makes you appreciate the original even more.

I think it’s a perfectly serviceable entry in a franchise that has been dumb since it began. If you’re watching the 11th installment in a series about corn-worshipping killer kids, it’s exactly what you’d expect: fun & dumb.

What if you don't care for the first movie but love the ridiculous terribleness of part 2 and 3? Is this funny terrible or just terrible?

I thought it was better than any of the sequels after the first two films . I’d say it’s more of a prequel than a remake or a sequel
