Default Isle of Man TT 2010 Review

Finally!!!!!!!

I saw some footage at a Costco before Christmas (IIRC) and it was insane.

Killer helicopter close ups (like Planet Earth) that truly captured the intensity of the push through the open meadows at redline. Sick!

And the audio was jamming. You could hear the commentators, but they didnt "hush" the bike sounds. The wailing of the bikes as they had their necks wrung was glorious.

Cant wait.

Red face some good some bad

The Blu ray is very nice, the quality is great! I was suprised to see you can't access any disc features once the disc is playing. Could it be my player? I don't think so, I have a fairly new JVC player that is great. What I mean by accessing any features while the disc is playing is that you get the "won't work" sign if you try and get to the main menu, or use the "next chapter" button. Nothing responds on this Blu ray. If you hit "stop", it stops alright, it stops and goes back to the beginning of the disc, and you start over. All that works is "pause" and "play" to stop and start it again. Oh yeah, fast foward works too, but that's it. Quite anoying not to be able to navigate around the disc without totally stoping it and restarting it to get to the main menu. The coverage of the race is fantastic! Great commentary and footage, the best I've ever seen. One more anoying thing is during the race there are "pop up banners" with information on them, but they are placed on the lower part of the screen where they block the action, they should have been placed at the TOP of the screen where there is only blue sky and then they wouldn't block the racing action, you find yourself waiting for them to go away so you can continue watching the race.

I noticed the pop-up banners too during the onboard footage. Some of the cameras were aimed a little off too. But all in all, a great BD with great coverage and a damn good PQ....especially for filming things that are moving so fast.

Must be your player, pop up menus work just fine on my PS3, next chapter too. I can access the Extra Features and Chapter Selection after the disc has begun playing. Only thing I miss is the lack of a Bookmark function which would have been nice considering the disc is 03:18:17 long. BTW, the PS3 has two menu buttons (one is labeled "Pop Up Menu" and the other "Top Menu"). The pop up menu button works fine, the top menu button does nothing.

Edit: Noticed the disc does not display any title or chapter information, just " - " for where a number usually goes. The disc probably wasn't exactly authored correctly. I can tell the chapters are advancing by the jumps in picture and approximate half hour increments in time.
