I voted for Green Mile, all great movies (never seen The Makestic though), I like The Mist but think its hyped a bit too much and while Shawshank is a great movie the Green Mile has much more replay value to me.

Me, too. I like the other films well enough, but I must say that I feel that Mile and Shawshank are usually too highly overrated, IMHO. I enjoy them, but the B&W version of The Mist is truly awesome.

I'm a big fan of the man's work.

Of the movies that he directed, I think Shawshank is the best, but my personal favorite is The Mist. The Majestic is highly underrated.

His television shows are great, too. He directed the pilots of both my current favorite show The Walking Dead and the canceled-too-soon Raines.

Of the three movies probably Green Mile is my favourite. Of King's written work though The Mist is my favourite. It gave me chills the first time I read it. Though I like the movie alot, it doesn't have as much of an impact as that novella did.

Though THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION and THE GREEN MILE are damn near flawless powerhouses, THE MIST, is in my opinion, the scariest film in 27 years (since Kubrick's THE SHINING). That ending...wow...I can count Hollywood films that ballsy on one hand.

SHAWSHANK #1

followed by GREEN MILE

not to open up this old can of worms again-- but THE MIST was a great film until the ending-- hated it with a passion... obviously others on this site feel the opposite

The Mist

Honorable Mention: Darabont directed a USA Network cable film titled Buried Alive. Bcak in the 90's, starring Tim Matheson and Jennifer Jason Leigh.

Criminally underrated IMHO.

As Shawshank is my fav film all time it is #1...

The Mist was also really well directed and a great movie. I personally thought the ending sealed the deal for me as a great masterpiece. I can argue about it all day... which also makes it a great movie.

Didn't care for The Mist, and surprisingly have never seen The Majestic, it looks interesting though but I doubt I will enjoy it as much as Shawshank...
