Default Can Sony VAIO VGN-FZ18G Notebook Play "The Day After Tomorrow"?

Just want to know anyone using Sony VAIO notebook (model: VGN-FZ18G) to play blu-ray movie discs? I wonder if this notebook can support playback of the blu-ray disc "The Day after Tomorrow"? I heard that this disc is recorded at high bit rate (49 mbps) using AVC codec and, the disc is BD+ encoded. Somebody, please help! Need answer. I don't want to regret buying this disc if it fails to play on my notebook.

I want to ask the same question as well. I will be using Panasonic UJ-210. Will it be compatible with BD+?

the answer is NO.

i returned my DAT bluray disc.

hopefully there will be a firmware update.

i think the issue is with bd+ and not the higher rate of encoding. the graphics card is very powerful and i dont think sony will be stupid to allow studios like fox to encode discs that are unplayable on their latest laptops.

by the way i bought halo2 disc and it plays with full resolution
