Quick question what sort of files does the PS3 play again for videos? it escapes my mind at the time?
for example if i had an avi file what would i convert it too? so it would play on the ps3

thanks in advance

i think (but I'm not totally sure) that it can play .mp4 which is the same that ipods can play.
Like I said, I'm not totally sure BUT if you download a free trailer from the PlayStation Store, just look at the extension of one of the files.

AVC, MP4. If whatever you use converts to appletv it'll work for the ps3

Exclamation I used Nero for making high def video playable on PS3

Make sure you update your PS3 to version 1.90 but I used Nero Digital Video format which is the fastest and excellent program to use to see videos in 720p, 1080p.. check out www.nerodigital.com (recommend) or www.nero.com (download). Nero 7 is not freeware... there some freeware programs out there but they not good as Nero

You need to convert it to either MPEG-2, AVC/H.264, VC-1 or AVCHD. If your AVI is a Divx file, you need to convert that too though the quality loss will be apparent.

If you're doing the conversion, make sure you archive the original so that you can still have that as a backup.

Brainfreeze. VC-1 on BD movie discs work but not as a file format as that is not supported.
