![]() ![]() • • • CHRISTMAS Movies • • • What's a Christmas Movie? I've been thinking for weeks how to define this. For me, it means a movie that embraces the spirit of the holiday, handling the actual themes that count. But some good arguments came up by other members, stating half of the so-called Christmas movies lean heavily on the holiday theme, but are in fact action, horror, comedy and so on. So it's wide open. Just keep in mind they have to embrace the Christmas theme quite obviously. You decide what counts as a Christmas movie for your own list. Not valid? Movies that you watch every Christmas, but don't have anything to do with Christmas. (ex. The Lord of the Rings) Movies that just happen to take place during winter, but don't have anything to do with Christmas or movies with just lots of snow. (ex. Frozen) Remember to always add the year (IMDB) of the movie when multiple versions exist! • • • RULES • • • • A minimum of 10, a maximum of 20 titles. (a top 12, 15, 17 or so is also allowed) • Only feature films, no shorts. • Lists have to be completed by the end of December 25, counting will happen on December 26. The results will be published in the week between Christmas Eve and New Years Eve. The reason I'm not doing it before Christmas, is the very fact lots of members will watch and discover Christmas themed movies during the holidays. • Points : Yes, the top 3 gets extra points, that makes it more interesting and gives people the chance to push their faves. So it's important you choose wise. #01 = 25 points #02 = 22 points #03 = 20 points #04 = 17 points #05 = 16 points #06 = 15 points ... #19 = 02 point #20 = 01 point Most important : Have fun ! Keep it nice. It's all in good spirit. Thanks in advance for participating and enjoy the Holidays !

It's set in the Christmas season and the family does a few Christmassy things (a party, shopping). Also there are Christmas lights EVERYWHERE but aside from that it's mostly about sex, fidelity and secret powerful societies with weird sex cults that may or may not have killed someone.

While some choices are a long shot, they are valid because of the fact the Christmas theme comes through constantly during the whole movie, one way or the other.
But Prometheus? That's one stretch too far. ![]() |

The Holiday When I think of movies such as Die Hard or Lethal Weapon, I don't necessarily think of them as a Christmas movie, but more a movie that takes place at Christmas time, so I left them off my list. Also, when it comes to Christmas, the first thing that comes to mind are the Rankin Bass specials, Charlie Brown, Frosty the Snowman, etc., but as they are not movies, I assume they are not eligible so I left them off my list. |
