Default thoughts about the $98 vizio at walmart?

Hey guys i was looking at the BR players at walmart today and noticed they have a vizio with netflix support for $98 It doesn't have wifi, but that's not a critical need for me, I've been looking around for a cheap netflix solution for the bedroom. My panasonic DMP-BD85k is my main player. so a secondary player just needs to have solid disc playback solid netflix and amazon vod support pandora is nice too but not a critical need for the bedroom.

Thanks

I'm in a similar situation as you-- I need a netflix ready player for a 2nd room-- I'm gonna wait for Black Friday deals and pick up a Sony or Panasonic at that time-- probably for a price very close to the Vizio.

I also might look at Costco because if it fails I can always return and get a new one even if it's a year down the road--- blu ray players seem to be much more sensitive than dvd players-- I've had 2 fail on me in a period of
only 3 years

I used to recommend the cheap walmart players to everyone.

But ... now I recommend the Sony S370 and S570 over those.

What about keeping the panasonic DMP-BD601K i have in the bedroom as it's a solid disc player and getting either a roku or the new appletv for netflix? the only advantage of getting a new player at this point would to add additional local file formats for playback. DLNA has no appeal to me, If i'm going to deal with media I do it locally. However today there are many low cost options. which would you guys do to simply add netflix support to the setup in the bedroom?

probably better off getting the roku. its very simple and you can also search and choose movies unlike the panasonic 85.

I might get a whole new bd player, the panasonics seem to have a resume issue with DVDs, if i turn the tv's source to tv and then back to HDMI the player seems to forget where the disc was and start over. Kind of strange

I second bhampton. Get one of the new Sony's. I have the 470, and it's a great, fast player.

I also have a Panasonic 601K that I recently replaced with a Sony BX-57 (Costco's version of the 570). Although I like the Panasonic, the loading on the Sony is almost instant (a big deal to myself), and it has a built in Wi-Fi receiver that gets Netflix and all of the other internet goodies, among other things. It's worth a look.

If you want to stream just netflix and the like get the roku player. As for a BD player you get what you pay for. If the player is really cheap there is usually a reason for it.

I think you can't go wrong with a Sony BD player

My next door neighbor just bought a Sony S370 which we thought would be $149 but it's on sale for $119 currently at Best Buy.... That was a nice surprize.

We thought about the Vizio but I recommended the Sony.

I saw this at my local Wal-Mart and bought the Sony BDP-S270 instead for $148. I thought Sony was better choice for my first BD player. Some of the reviews I seen online weren't too favorable for Vizio so Sony seemed like a good choice.

Hmm, my first Samsung BD player did this after about four months. This was a couple of Xmas' ago, and since I got it at Costco I just returned it.

And no, I never bought another Samsung BD player again.
