Default Blu-ray Uncompressed Audio/Video

I was at London Drugs (BC, Canada only yes some of the sales people a competent ) and a customer was asking about high definition format war, he asked the most ambiguous question who's going to win. The sales person made it clear he was previously employed by Sony so he had the in side scoop well sort of. He was saying that Blu Ray should win because it has a lot more memory, shocker, I know. He was saying Blu Ray can get sound that HD DVD can't because of space. I have belive he was talking about uncompressed PCM. I already know Sony is making or has made a 200 gig disk, and with that space there would be enough room to put uncompressed video on the disk.

Uncompressed 1080p is 3 Gbps or 375 megabytes per second, 22.5GB/min. Too bad there isn't an optical pickup likely to come out any time in the next 50 years that will do that. You simply can't spin the disc fast enough.

yes, you could fit a short movie on a 200GB disc

However, there is A-virtually no point as most Blus are 99% transparent to the master, and B- I seriously doubt that you will ever see a 200GB Blu. More than 2 layers is asking for trouble, and I wouldn't even consider putting my backup data on one.

uncompressed video will not happen. For Audio, the facts are clear HD DVD is too restrictive and so there are issues. Look at the post from RBfilms, look at the reality that the vast majority of HD DVDs don't use lossless audio while the opposite is true for BD
