Alliance Titles 9/14/2010: Bridget Jones's Diary + Fubar & double feature discs

Alliance has a couple of new Canadian discs coming out on Sept. 14th, & here they are:

-Bridget Jones' Diary
-Fubar

Fubar is a hilarious Canadian flick, but honestly don't think it'll look all that super in HD.

Also on the 14th, more Alliance double feature barebones discs arrive:

-The Butteryfly Effect/The Butterfly Effect 2 (Alliance, Sept. 14 '10)
-Van Wilder/Van Wilder: The Rise of Taj (Alliance, Sept. 14 '10)
-Wedding Crashers/The Wedding Singer (Alliance, Sept. 14 '10)

Any specs on the Alliance Bridget Jones's Diary? Any extra's to be included? Is Alliance still doing bad transfers? We the U.S. get a Disney release? Would like to get the UK version but the deleted sences & extras are pal and can't be viewed on a ps3.

Don't expect anything special from the CDN disc, we'll see on or close to release day what the specs are. Only a handful of the exclusive discs have extras, hopefully this too will be among them.

FYI, Fubar has been delayed until next week, Sept. 21st. Bridget Jones was released today however.

Bridget Jones's Diary has included all the extras from the us DVD
including commentary with Director Sharon Maguire, The young and the mateless, The Bridget Phenomenom, Portrait of the makeup artist, Behind the scenes featurette, Deleted scenes, Bridget jones edge of reason trailers, and guide to bridget Britishisms.

Its English 5.1 DTS HD master audio, Dolby DIgital 5.1 and a french doblby digital 5.1 track
Its also correct 2:35:1 aspect ratio and is 1080i would prefer 1080p but for 13.99 can i can deal with i lol

I got the movie via amazon.ca delivered via DHL yesterday

I also picked up the butterfly effect 1 and 2 double feature disc and that was of course barebones but both are OAR
Didnt realize that Van wilder was a double feature disc with Rise of Taj, I might have to see about picking that up since Van Wilder 2 hasnt been releasd on bluray here in the us

Are you going by the back cover for the 1080i info, or have you actually played the disc? Alliance has a tendency to misprint stuff like that. Seems awfully strange that they'd go all out on actually including special features and then do a 1080i transfer, but they've done stranger things, I guess...

Also, if you've played the disc, do you know if it's the American version or the UK version?

Going based off watching it last night, its definately 1080i but iam not one who lets 1080i really bother me(especially on these budget priced alliance titles. I am not sure what the differences are between the us and uk version so i cant answer that one.

Ya, I wasn't too worried about it, either, but I was still curious.

The main difference between the two versions is in the US version she says "c*nt" and in the UK version she says "cow". Also, during the end credits, the US version has a home movie of Mark Darcy's 8th birthday party with the young Bridget, and the UK version has interviews with the various characters about the new relationship between Bridget and Mark.

It has the birthday part at the end credits so based on you saying that the canadian disc is the US version. And i heard the c word alot

Thanks for the review. I was considering it but I didn't know that it was shot on videotape. Nevermind then..
