Just wanted to remind folks that the offer will expire on April 4 to get your free digital copy of Fellowship of the Ring, Two Towers and Return of the King. These digital copies were included in the set sold last year, but the codes for them will expire. I just happened to be downloading one of my other digital copies and had my mental alarm clock ring--realized I never accessed the digital copies of LotR. Good timing for me. If I waited another week it would have been too late!

I have the discs and the codes, but I won't be using them. If it's possible to get the copies via the codes only, I'd be willing to give them away free. I am not willing to part with the discs themselves as that would breakup the boxset.

I never understood this...
Why is it that disk expire? How do disks expire? Why do companies make it so that you cant get this if you buy the set late? Its bad enough that they charge more for special features than the main movies.... |

The discs don't expire, the files will always be accessible from them when you put them in a player. However to allow the transfer of these files to your hard drive/portable movie player you need to access the internet and enter the specific code that is included with your disc. The acceptance of that code on the studio's side is what expires, pretty much rendering the Digital Copy disc useless after the code expiration date. Why they do this I have no clue other than to maybe try and get people to buy the discs new when they are most expensive and not wait for a used copy.

I wonder if the codes will actually expire. I recently used my codes for The Dark Knight and Watchmen with no problems, and TDK's code was supposed to expire in 2009 and Watchmen's in July 2010. I didn't expect the codes to work but thought I'd give it a try and it worked fine.

Does anyone have a Watchmen code that hasn't been used? I have the disc, but man, I really can't seem to keep track of the codes!
![]() I just used my TDK code and it worked! It was supposed to expire in December of 2009. Heh. I have another one if anyone wants it. Last edited by Kryptonic; 04-01-2011 at 04:25 PM. |

My "Watchmen" code has indeed expired... so I don't why some codes would still be valid while others are not. Mine came with the Ultimate Cut box set.
