Exclamation Quick way to lose credibility

No matter what its about, there are a few things I've noticed people write that (for me) always causes their statements to be a little less credible. If you want to make a point, I suggest you keep this in mind.

Anytime I see the following, its clear the poster has an agenda and/or bias and you can't take what they say at face value.

HD DUD
HD DEAD
Blo-ray
M$
$ony

There's others, but I think you get it. Think about it - When you see someone use blo-ray here, they'd instantly lose all credibility and be called a troll, right? So why do it with these others? You still lose that same credibility.

Just my 2 cents.. take it or leave it..

How about changing your user name to something that has nothing to do with the format war. It brings up an association for me with those so-called format neutral guys at AVS who are anything but neutral and are some of the biggest pro-HD DVD trolls on the net.

Just my 2 cents.. take it or leave it..

It's not meant as a personal attack and I'm just stating what I associate "neutral" with.

Fair enough. You can associate Neutral with whatever you like. For me - its simple. I don't really care who wins. And I'm not signing up to be a soldier - I'm just getting whatever movies I want and watching them.

LOL, that is funny. You can just barely tell that it is a V since it has a sharp edge in the lower left corner, but it certainly was a bad font choice.

Quick way to lose credibility is to lie.

So many people who've claimed to be neutral simply aren't. You may be neutral so this doesn't regard you but every day there is at least one poster here who might as well post, "I'm neutral in all this but it seems to me like blu-ray can't win since all their players cost more than $1,000 and they hardly ever sell. As someone who is neutral, I'm just wondering how all you stupid ********ers think you can pull this off... I'm neutral! I'm neutral! I'm neutral!"

... or the people who think just owning a PS3 is enough to make them neutral and let them post whatever they want (despite 100-0 HD DVD to BD discs owned etc...)

So if I make a simple typo, I loose all credibility?

I think most here have a Bias and I suspect the rest have an agenda. This is site does not claim neutrality - that does not mean what the poster has posted is incorrect or false, just like anyone claiming neutrality posts the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth at all times. I'm not sure how that works, some neutral person maybe able to clarify
A. Like a car in neutral going nowhere fast
B. Supporting both formats equally
- Having spent exactly the same amount of money on software and hardware
- Having the same number of players and disc's
C. Like Switzerland in the Second World War and staying out of everything
I think the dictionary definition sums it up quite well.

  • neither moral nor immoral; neither good nor evil, right nor wrong
  • impersonal: having no personal preference; "impersonal criticism"; "a neutral observer"
  • inert: having only a limited ability to react chemically; chemically inactive; "inert matter"; "an indifferent chemical in a reaction"
  • not supporting or favoring either side in a war, dispute, or contest
  • having no net electric charge; not electrified
  • of something that is lacking hue; "neutral colors like back or white"
  • possessing no distinctive quality or characteristics
  • one who does not side with any party in a war or dispute
  • lacking distinguishing quality or characteristics; "a neutral personality that made no impression whatever"

I try to use good grammar, but somtimes I make mistakes. I've seen mods make mistakes...lol

Look at Josh's typos in the "Good Traders List".

No offense, Josh. We all do.

I'll admit to using M$ on more than one occasion. I've no love for Microsoft, and am fairly free to admit it. But you are correct, if I see someone post blo-ray or something I rarely place any stock in what they write.

When BD first hit the market and 5th Element got such scathing PQ reviews, I saw someone post referring to BD as blurray. I did find that pretty funny.

yeah, or the people who own 1 movie and think they can post whatever they want too

I think though sometimes too much is read into simple comments or questions. If blu-ray wants more support, everyone needs to put up with the annoying questions some times and not forget that a HD DVD supporter (or fanboy if you prefer) is a potential blu-ray supporter.

I'm not pretending to be neutral though.

And I only have 1 movie because I'm waiting for a bunch more in the mail rather than paying local prices for them (some are $45!)

Far, far worse are those who don't have EITHER, but will scream and yell (via typing of course) that 'their' format is better.

MR. Neutral...I've seen you rack up quite an impressive post count in a short amount of time. Quite frankly, I think you are here to try and sway people to HDDVD, rather than here to "Show the benefits of being Neutral" I am Neutral in the sense I own both formats, but I can honestly say I don't reccomend people be Neutral. It prolongs the war, and does nobody but Microsoft any good. IMO it actually would serve Toshiba & Paramount good if HDDVD just died, so they could move on with actually making money.

The point I am trying to make is, this is BLU-RAY.com, Not Neutral.com, not HD-DUD.com(although there is HD-DVD.com ) SO I really don't know what you are trying to prove, or expect from the group here. Many of us(myself included) are pissed that there has to be two sides, therefore we are very opinionated on the matter. And being that we are here at: BLU-RAY.COM we feel this is an appropriate place to talk about it, and if we feel like being derogatory toward the competition(if you wanna call it that ) Then so be it. Yes it is Obivous, and yes everyone here is here for blu-ray...and if they are not, they are discovered and dealt with in short order. Only those hiding under a flag of "Neutrality" who dance around their wording in posts seem to linger about a bit longer, or eventually decide to dance to the Rythm here.
