Alot of people here at least with the big collections state 'why buy the dvd when the blu ray is available', take this post as an example https://forum.blu-ray.com/3582383-post26.html
Well when I started buying blu rays the price and mostly still is fairly high and so I thought I would only get blu rays that have been reviewed highly, I never saw any point in investing in low blu rays. Like for instance I have the 3 disc edition of Black Hawk Down packed to the core with extras and even convention panels, whereas the blu ray is barebones, same of The usual suspects disc. So why would I spend 10 bucks more for a inferior product? If you want an example of blu rays I would buy, I have recently ordered the full discloure edition of Apocalypse Now and the new version of Last of the Mohicans, these are discs worth investing in. I am a huge comedy fan and recently with the rise of blu ray the discs have become insanely cheap, for instance I got the 2 disc dvd of Superbad for $2, why would I spend another 10? for the same film and with the extras still in SD? Lets be honest some of the good comedies arent exactly Ben Hur or Saving Private Ryan, which is another reason why I still have DVDs. |
