Default Pulp Fiction, which version to get?

Are the Scandinavian, Danish or Hong Kong versions all the same regarding PQ and AQ? Or is there really one to get over the others?

I have read great reviews on the Danish, Polish, French, and Japanese. I get the impression that they are all very much the same. Why is the Polish version superior to the rest? I know the French release is region B locked but the Danish/Scandinavian and the Japanese are region A friendly. Japanese is obviously region A and the Scandinavian is reported region free. Is the PQ/AQ on the Polish release superior in some easily discernible way?

Pulp Fiction ..... *i bought the 1080i australian release*
Why the heck did the aussies put a 1080i transfer on a BD50...
Well the picture quality is real good but still it's only 1080i
I was thinking about importing the polish blu ray...Then again i'm sure there will be a far superior american release soon!(that's why i'm sticking to my aussie blu)
But if you must have the blu ray now import the polish release,i heard the danish blu doesn't have english subtitles(which is not really THAT important but it's still better than danish subtitles:P)

I also think it's the only country to have a 1080p version out.
Plus, TF1 always use their own masters, and this one is TERRIFIC.
Oh and the subtitles are non-invasive.

Aren't the Polish, Danish, and Japanese releases all 1080p?

Sorry, I don't know that. It might be.

All I'm saying is that it's from a unique master, owned by TF1 Vidéo.

I guarantee you that when it does finally get released in the US, it won't be superior to the Polish release. I just don't see it happening.

I have the Danish and it is 1080P with fantastic PQ and DTS-HDMA audio. The Polish and Japanese are supposed to be basically the same disc.

I just got my HK version and originally had the Scandinavian import. I sold the Scandinavian import and had no intention of rebuying this movie, but a friend in HK was traveling to the States and he picked it up for me on sale so I couldn't say no. The HK version has English subs while the Scandinavian did not.

Yes and thanks again for the sale. Is the PQ pretty comparable.

I just got the copy in my hand yesterday evening and haven't opened it. Thought I read a thread over at AVS saying the HK release is comparable to the French TF1 release. To be honest, I still don't really want this title but I felt bad asking my friend to run to the shop just getting one title. I'm more excited that I now have The Last Samurai with Dolby TrueHD track instead of our lossy Dolby Digital release.

Yeah, I had the French version for a while. It had very good PQ, but the subs were driving me nuts after the second viewing, and with more choices finally I dumped it. This Danish release seems very comparable, if not the same in PQ to the French. As for that Last Samurai you have, that is in dire need of a reissue here in the states. That TrueHD track is gonna sound very nice on that disc.

I watched yesterday the Scandinavian version that jcs913 sold me. The PQ is great, the movie has never looked better imo. The sound was a bit of a let down for me, a bit muffled and a some 'crackling' from my center channel on some dialogues. All in all I'm very happy with my purchase!

PQ on the French version is top notch! pity about the subtitles, but they don't take away from the presentation at all.

I am waiting, but not holding my breath, for the US version. Pulp Fiction is one of my all time favorite movies too...but I can wait.

I received the Polish version today. I suspect it's the same as the French and HK transfer, it's good, except for some edge enhancement all over the show.

The French and HK are definitely different.

The HK has noticeably more Edge enhancement.
