Has there been any news on a US release of Pulp Fiction?
Its ranked as the 5th best movie of all time on IMDB. Most of the classic Tarantino films such as Reservoir Dogs, True Romance, Kill Bill, and Death Proof have all been released to blue ray, why not pulp fiction? There are several other versions in other countries but why no US release? |

It probably would have come out this fall given the popularity of Inglourious Basterds, but Miramax, the US distributor of Pulp Fiction, has been in trouble for awhile and has just recently closed up shop - so all it's films are probably in flux right now with their final fates unknown. It'll all get worked out eventually and you'll have your disc. |

Just out of pure curiosity, why would you own a release that you're unable to watch? Is it just for pure collecting's sake?

Why keep the thread alive? When there is ACTUAL information, it will undoubtably be posted on the front page and spawn a new thread in the forum. As it is, this thread belongs in the wishlist forum as there is no info about this release.

Miramax is just a studio within a huge media conglomerate, therefore I don't think they have much say in what gets a release and what doesn't. Disney cutting the amount of films they produce/distribute every year, has little to do with how their movies get released. To back this up, a few weeks ago Clerks and Chasing Amy were released, Pulp Fiction would easily outsell those combined (and like said before the remastering plays a huge role of course). Besides I don't see many Touchstone/Hollywood Pictures films on the horizon either.
Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown, The Count of Monte Cristo, Dead Poets Society, Cool Runnings, Good Will Hunting, etc. have all been rumoured by Disney once or twice, but disappeared without a trace. They'll show up sooner or later. |
