I saw this on The Digital Bits and thought readers here would be interested:
Finally, we should have our review of Universal’s Battlestar Galactica: The Complete Series Blu-ray set posted on Monday. The reason for the delay? As we’ve been looking over the set, we’ve discovered that there appears to be about 2 minutes and 15 seconds of footage missing from the WIDESCREEN version of the episode The Magnificent Warriors (located on Disc Three) on both the Remastered and Definitive Editions. The good news is that Universal is already aware, is already fixing the disc and has set up a replacement program for people to get the fixed disc. Here’s their official statement: “There is missing footage during the episode, THE MAGNIFICENT WARRIORS, on disc 3 of the widescreen version of BATTLESTAR GALACTICA on both the Remastered Collection and Definitive Collection. The issue is being fixed and consumers can get a replacement disc by emailing USHEConsumerRelations@visionmediamgmt.com. Consumers should include, “Battlestar Galactica Classic Collection: BD” in the subject line of their email and the following text in the body of the email, “I would like to receive a replacement disc for (Disc 3, Episode “The Magnificent Warriors”).” Within 24-48 hours, consumers will get a response asking for their mailing address in the United States or Canada. Shortly thereafter, they will receive a postage-paid envelope for them to mail in their disc with the missing footage from THE MAGNIFICENT WARRIORS. 2-3 weeks later they will receive a replacement disc with the complete episode.” http://thedigitalbits.com/columns/my...ts/060515_1315 |

EXACTLY the same story here. I sent a third "what's going on" email just seconds ago.
(Does anyone know how to reach TheDigitalBits? Maybe they could find out what's going on.) |

Or maybe they got fewer replacement requests than expected, and decided not to fix the problem at all. Whatever their reason, they need to have some kind of answer for anybody who has bothered contacting them.

I got my e-mail today about an envelope being sent and that I would have to send the bad disc back before I get the new one, I just bought tis without knowing about this and I go back to the Netherlands next month and doubt they will send it there.

Received my return envelope today, so they are definitely being sent out.
There was one item I'm slightly confused about in the enclosed letter: Wait… discs? DVDs? Well, I have The Definitive Collection BD set myself, and I thought only the Widescreen Edition disc was affected? So does that mean Universal wants us returning both discs now, or was the plural meant solely for people who've purchased more than one set? Please place the Battlestar Galactica Classic Collection" Discs #3 (The Magnificent Warriors) in the prepaid envelope, along with the top portion of this letter. Please return within 30 days of the date above, and allow 3-4 weeks to receive your replacement DVDs. Talk about badly worded… my cats could churn out something that made more sense to everyone. It doesn't clearly point out the exact disc(s) that must be returned (widescreen, full frame, or both?), nor reference The Definitive Collection or BD sets. Then again, this is Universal were talking about here… 😐💬D'OH! I'm fairly certain nothing has changed, so only the Widescreen disc is getting replaced. Still, better to be safe… so I tried calling USHE Consumer Relations to obtain clarification on this, but seems they close at 4:30p PT. I'll post that info up once/if I get it (unless anyone else hears back from them beforehand and does the honor). Cheers all… Last edited by Baron Brain; 07-10-2015 at 12:23 AM. |

I've e-mailed them about 5 times over the weeks and heard nothing.

Don't give yourself high blood pressure for nothing. Just return the affected disc. As for calling Universal's Consumer Relations; do you honestly beleive that the person on the phone would have a single clue? Put the widescreen disc with THE MAGNIFICENT WARRIORS in the return envelope and consider your part of the bargain done. |

Ahhhh… mar3o gets it. Yes, there's always a possibility something else was found that consumers haven't been made aware of. Similar issues have occurred before. It's unlikely here, then again, better safe than sorry. These questions will come up again as people receive their own letters, so I can certainly take a few moments to make a phone call should I decide. No sweat off my back.
<checking blood pressure> Well, how about that… it's so low I must be nearly dead (not surprising, since responding to this nonsense has bored me to death). 😲 'Nuff said. Heheheh… |

I finally received the pre-paid mailer yesterday, so they are definitely being sent out... albeit slowly.
The included note states to expect the replacement in 3-4 weeks now, slightly longer than quoted in the email response. Last edited by Katatonia; 07-13-2015 at 09:14 AM. |
