Brilliant. For me its the best of the Coens' films, even better than Fargo. In an unnamed city in the 20s or 30s the fixer for the Irish mob betrays his boss to the Italian mob. Then it gets complicated and violent. The cast is so good its unfair to pick anyone out for praise though JE Freeman as Eddie Dane is one of the scariest henchmen you'll ever see and Sam Raimi gets a cameo. The Danny Boy sequence is one of the greats and the soundtrack is one of Carter Burwell's best

A really well designed steelbook. In stark contrast to the post above, I was incredibly disappointed when I watched this while discovering the Coen brothers work retrospectively. I personally think this is by far their weakest film. I didn't find myself rooting for anyone including the film's protagonist, which is never a good thing.
