Warner Bros Godzilla x Kong : The New Empire (2024) [No 3D Blu-ray] [Digital only - AVP]

I just watched the new trailer and did a search about it being in 3D and it appears that it will indeed be in 3D. But I guess it will need more verification since the end of the trailer mentions only "Made for IMAX."

I think you got the title the wrong way around. Even if thos is in 3D, we won't get a 3D blu ray so what's the point tbh.

We have a wasteland of threads dedicated to Warners films that initially appeared to be in 3D but only ever came out in 2D, it really would have been better to wait for more verification before creating a thread. I guess it won't be long before it's confirmed one way or the other.

Been waiting for confirmation on this one. How/when does it usually get confirmed? And when did WB stop releasing their movies on 3D blu ray?

What was the last one, Dune? That came out in 2021 I think. Trying to think if there were any after that.

It's not confirmed for now. If RealD 3D posts about it on their social media pages, we can call that a preliminary confirmation. The first trailers and posters for Aquaman 2 only had a "Filmed for IMAX" tagline, and then we found out about a stereo supervisor working on the film, which pretty much confirmed the development of a 3D version, and now we're getting it on December 22.

This year WB released their first 3D film since 2021, which was Meg 2: The Trench, and while it had exquisite 3D, it hasn't been released on 3D Blu-ray yet.

Again, too early to start a thread for this film now, but I'm kinda hopeful for a 3D version since the director Adam Wingard did like and prefer the 3D version of Godzilla vs. Kong so I hope this film gets the 3D treatment as it should.

Dune: Part Two, Godzilla x Kong, and Furiosa are listed as 3D on WB's most recent leaked schedule. Those have been wrong before so not a confirmation, but it's a good sign.

I won’t get my hopes up for this until RealD starts promoting it or some stereographers get credited on IMDB.

But if it is in 3D, I will get my hopes up that we’ll see some stateside IMAX 3D showtimes for this. WB has kept their films IMAX 2D only for so long, but Aquaman 2 finally sports a single IMAX 3D showtime a day. Hopefully it’s WB’s default going forward.

Yep, One of the reason I rarely post here anymore is because of all the bullying and even from the moderator.

Just curious, how do you define bullying?

Calling people out and making their contributions and opinions seem worthhless IMO is a form of bullying. I've made many contributions to this forum over the years and I make my first post in god only knows how long and you tell me I should not have posted it to soon. Give me a break!

It sucks that yes we will get theatrical 3D, but then no bluray

I guess maybe I just have a thick skin(?). I think of stuff as sometimes rowdy banter, regardless of who it comes from, but that's just me.

The Blu-ray 3D section is the most well-run and organized sub-forum on Blu-ray.com. the13thman is the best d*** moderator on this website, and we are all lucky to have him. He has seen literally every Blu-ray 3D and shares his knowledge liberally. How many other forums have zero duplicate threads and uniform titles with region-coding info in every one, even threads started 10+ years ago? He even modifies semicolons so you can search better. I get that internet criticism can feel overwhelming, but this is not bullying. He is just caring about keeping our forum well-structured. I have been a moderator on another forum before, and it is a lot of work (for free), trying to keep people's topics in the correct sub-folder and deal with headcases who take personal offense and cry abuse about their thread being moved or corrected in any way (not saying that is the case here). I am thankful that I get to participate here without having to worry about any of that.

As to the topic at hand, I think it's reasonable to create this thread for discussion. Godzilla x Kong will probably get a 3D conversion, but the jury is still out. 3D conversions are frequently not confirmed until about a month or less before release when stereo credits show up on IMDB or DNEG's site, RealD 3D is placed at the end of the final trailer, or theaters start to receive info about their DCPs. See Top Gun: Maverick, Fantastic Beasts 3, Black Adam, Shazam 2, Across the Spider-Verse, etc. for examples where we all assumed they would be 3D due to previous films (and sometimes after it being shown on WB's internal documents or a random advance credit), and then were let down. Even RealD 3D has advertised 3D conversions that ultimately got canceled (Ruby Gillman). What some guy says on a Facebook 3D group or 3Dor2D.com or a ticketing agency in Brazil is not confirmation. Look for something closer to a primary source, from the studio or conversion house themselves, closer to release. Except maybe Disney/Pixar/Marvel, we can't just assume 3D for all major tentpoles and CGI animations like we used to do. The format is not as popular as it was during the post-2009 boom, and studios are restructuring, downsizing, outsourcing, and exploring different ways to save money post-Covid, which unfortunately involves cutting 3D and even releasing stereo films flat.

Here, here to both.

I don't mind these threads either. Either they develop into something like "Great news! Disney Japan is releasing it..." and "James Cameron is god!" Or more often than not, a place for 3D collectors to wail about how Disney, Warner, Universal, etc... sucks, can go to hell, etc..., when it's confirmed a 3D Blu-ray release won't happen. But after the community vents, the threads naturally wither away.

the13thman is truly the godfather. I can't even count the number of movies he's turned me on to, or the number of auto-conversions I avoided because of him. When I come across an obscure title and do a blu-ray.com search, invariably there's a 10 year old message from the13thman providing a mini-review. Strange how the same man who helps drain my bank account, also saves me money. Stay gold ponyboy!
