I am sure most of you are familiar with the website above....please check out the link to see how BLURAY movie sales are STUMPING the LIVING $HIT out of HDDVD sales at Amazom.com, who's the internet retail monster, the walmart of the internet. So its fair to say that whatever sales trend Amazon is having surely reflects the overall 99% of BD/HDDVD sales elsewhere in the world. They probably sell more HDDVD and Bluray movies than BestBuy, Circuit City, Fry's, Blockbuster and a couple of dozen other retailers combined. Yall remember the Toshiba $236 1080i player being sold last week at Amazon wth 8 free movies, with similar incentives for BD players, selling for around $400 with 8 free movies, (same also goes for PS3 and xbox hddvd add on - all with 8 free movies), and last Amazon did have a huge sale for HD movies (buy 2 get rd free for both HDDVD and BD). Well the result of this was that HDDVD dominated movie sales for 3 continuous days in the Top 10, Top 25, Top 100 categories, and this was primarily because of the super cheap piece of junk 1080i HDDVD player that was going for $236, compared to the much better 1080P BD players selling for almost $200 more...too bad the general consumer doesnt the major differences.. Well aside from my rant, here is proof that BLURAY Owners are MUCH MORE STABLE MOVIE BUYERS, while HDDVD player owners are seasonal shoppers where they only make such a trend effect when something is being given away or sold super cheap, Only a couple of days after Amazon's Toshiba's HDDVD offer was over, BLURAY quickly gained back the COMPLETE DOMINANCE in EVERY Single category. In less than 3 days after the huge 8 Free movies w/HDDVD player and 3 for 2 movie sales were over, HDDVD movie sales have Significantly SLUMPED COWARD down to BD again and almost down to figures that are worst than they were before the sale started. While BLURAY sales continue to be CONSISTENTLY increasing, and may I EMPHASIZE the word "CONSISTENTLY" because HDDVD movie sales are very flakey and anything but CONSISTENT.... Another reason why BLURAY is garnering so much more support from the consumer and ehardware manufacturers, not even the Paramaount deal phased our stronger sales, and yes there are a TON of orphaned HDDVD copies of Blades of Glory collecting dust at store shelves.... I suggest everyone here atleast look at the website above on a regular basis, once or twice a day, to see the trend. 4-5 days ago we were being stumped with slightly higher BD movie sales, and now BLU has gained dominance in every category listed. These are not FUDGED up numbers, they are being pulled from Amazon's site as we speak and are posted on a completely neutral site.... We could read Pro-BD or Pro-HDDVD articles all day long, but at the end of the day, as Cuba Gooding Jr best said it "Show Me The Money" .... And 70% of the cosumer's HD movie sale money is going on Bluray movies, not HDDVD! We sell more movies than HDDVD, we have more in the Top 10, Top 25, Top 50, Top 100, Top 1000, Top 10000, we have more titles, more in stock ready to ship, and yet thats the case even though our technology is not 100% finalized (e.g. Java 1.1/2.0) and our players are more expensive, and we had lost the support of a major studio, but we're still kicking ass and taking names. Can you imagine what would happen when we finally close the price gap and are able to offer a $200 value BD layer? and when the 1.1 Specs are 100% mandated on all new players? I am sayig that we still have the momentum, but we need not take it for granted, and we need to be knocking down on the BDA's doors and DEMAND they HURRY THE F UP!!! We still have the momentum as the numbers show, but I would hate for us to lose that momentum by xmas if HDDVD does offer the $200 players before we are able to close the price gap. http://www.eproductwars.com/dvd/ This should inspire us all to support BLU more and more every day and spread the BLU goodness to all of our friends, coworkers, neighbours, family members....if they own a DVD player, and are thinking of buying an HD TV, we all need to try hard and convince them to pair their HDTVs with a BluRay disc player or a PS3. Bring your friends over to your house, have them demo your BLuray player on your HDTV, I have seen both men and women, young and old, flip when they saw the video and audio quality of BluRay movies...So anyone who loves movies is a potential BLU fan! Thats my 2 cents, my story and I am STICKING TO IT! Go BLU or the HELL WITH YOU!!! Last edited by DAMNSAM77; 09-02-2007 at 04:53 PM. |

If Blu-ray would drop the Price to the level of HDDVD Stuff, it would be over ...
Only in "Price" category, HDDVD had some points... |

I am sure you know that the price category is in regards to movies, not players, and yes there is an average .50 cent higher price tag on BD movies, but that doesnt warrant any concerns, but I think that BDA needs to change their price marketing campaign to lower both BD movie prices and players as well, I think consumers would rather buy a cheaper BD player, even if its not 2.0 ready, most people have been watching DVDs without firmware updates and webcontent for over 10 yrs, so when it comes down to it, it comes down to how much money the general consumer is willing to spend

Yes, actually thereīs no price difference between Blu-ray & HDDVD movies...
this shouldnīt be the problem. But the Players of HDDVD are a little cheaper, and that makes people to buy that stuff. Even if they donīt have a clue... and Blu-ray has more movie support... |

Earlier in the week people were freaking out because DUDers went crazy buying due to the sale. They fade fast. For the last three days Blu has been back on top were it will remain. It was sorry
