Want.

But probably not at that pricepoint.

EDIT: I'm not casting aspersions on ANYONE who wants to buy this for this price. Yes, it's reasonable. I, however, personally, myself, me, can't afford it at the moment.

Also: Some of the episodes are a bit goofy--especially after Season 7--but this is the best Lex Luthor yet. Rosenbaum does a great job.

I’m torn. I’m a huge fan of the show but already have seasons 6-10 on blu-ray. Will it really be worth it to get the set just to upgrade 1-5 ? Especially when my wallet’s already going to be hurting enough this fall.

I wonder if seasons 6-9 will be getting AVC encodes and lossless audio? The current Blurays have VC-1 and Dolby Digital audio

I’ve held off rewatching the show hoping this would be coming!

I probably won’t grab it day one but knowing Warner Brothers this should be about $100 or less within a year of release, so I can hold out for a bit.

It's only $17.99 per season at full MSRP. The actual price will be around $13-14 per season. That's more than reasonable.

The show is so low budget and and the effects are so cheesy but I always liked the moral dilemmas presented to the characters, and the fact Clark always tried to save everyone, even the villains. The characters themselves were pretty strong as well.

I grew up watching it (and an interesting coincidence the last season aired right before I finished high school) so I have some pretty strong nostalgia for it. Will definitely be picking it up.

Hopefully the seasons with the lossy audio and mediocre encodes will get upgraded though.

Low budget? What show was you watching.. Season 1-7 in particular had fantastic special effects as a television series for its time. Some of the effects they were pulling off were comparable to what they were putting in movies.

Now I say 1-7 because after this the series had a considerable budget cut where I agree, the effects weren't great and they were unable to shoot on location and were always doing every scene on the high street backlot which looked crap but yeah, fully disagree.. Those earlier seasons definitely hold up especially when compared to the Flash and Legends of Tomorrow which have effects a PS2 game would cringe at

Greatest Lois Lane of all-time. Lex too, but everybody always says that.

Younger me would've pre-ordered this immediately. Older me has the complete DVD set and seasons 6-10 on blu-ray and Seasons 4 & 5 on iTunes HD, and reading the press release I'm guessing there is zero new content that wasn't in the DVD series set aside from Seasons 1-5 on BD. Glad it is finally getting it 10 years after it should've, but I can't justify dipping again unless there was new archival stuff they didn't include from way back when (deleted scenes, gag reels from seasons 4-10, etc.).

This is great news for TV shows on physical media. I enjoyed this show… but why don’t we have Buffy and Angel yet?

Eehhh… definitely not. Even at my age back then when I was watching it as the seasons came out I could tell the effects were not great. Definitely not as good as movies with big budgets of that time like The Fast and the Furious, The Lord of the Rings, The Mummy, etc.

I still like the series a lot but it was a CW show and that network always does low budget stuff. Maybe the effects were a little better than other shows of that time but definitely not as good as the ones from big-budget film of that time. If anything I think the effects improved in Season 8 and on even if the location changed. But the effects in 1-7, especially the CGI, were cheesy imo. Hardly affects my enjoyment of it though.

Definitely the best Lex. I put Erica Durance's Lois as a close #2. For me, it's just impossible to top Margot Kidder.

If you can consider a show like Babylon 5 one of the best sci-fi shows in existence by the quality of its writing/storytelling over the special effects, then Smallville deserves consideration as one of the best superhero shows in existence by the same principle.

Didn't think this would ever happen, but it's a nice surprise. Probably going to wait a little for a bit of a price drop. Coming to about $18ish a season MSRP is more than fair, it's just having it spent all at once that's holding me back lol
