Default Return of the Living Dead (9/14/10)

The Return of the Living Dead Blu-ray

The Return of the Living Dead Blu-ray Review

FINALLY!!!!! Quite possibly the funniest horror movie I've ever seen. Can't wait for this!!!!! Just hoping for a great treatment.

Burt - "If that is a re-animated body, we're gonna have to kill it."
Freddy - "How do you kill something that's already dead?"
Burt Wilson - "How do I know, Fred? Let me think!"
Frank - "It's not a bad question, Burt."

At least it's much better than "Troll 2"!

Great to see the movie being released but Damn I wish they had used the original theatrical poster for the cover

For sure, but that would've been asking too much!

Please be a 2 disc set and not a flipper.

+1 Even though the most important thing is to get the movie on Blu-ray, it would have been a huge plus if they had used the original poster art.

It won't be a flipper. I believe it's listed as a 2 disc set, which likely means it'll be the BD on a single disc -- and every extra will be on the bonus DVD that's included -- commentaries and all. -- hopefully that's not the case -- but we'll see.

I'm going to make custom art because I HATE the one used here. It's the same as the DVD re-release from a couple of years back. The original poster art is SO much better (and on the original DVD even glows in the dark).

Get ready for Thom Matthews' RAT TAIL in 1080p! (anyone else notice this?) I rewatched ROTLD recently and we were all mystified by the horror of this little rat tail on the back of Thom M's head. It's most noticeable in the scenes when Frank/Burt/Freddie are trying to subdue the awakened corpse at UNEEDA. I had never noticed it before (first time watching on a large set) but it's going to be loud and clear on this upcoming BD...

Hopefully not the case? How else would you like it released?

One of my favorite 80's horror movies, but I think my DVD is good enough. I need to quit upgrading EVERYTHING.

In the past many of these BD/DVD combo releases include a BD with JUST the film in HD A/V -- and then all the extras are "included" on the DVD that's packaged with it. So if you want to view the film w/ commentary, etc... you're stuck watching the DVD in standard def, etc.

Lately the studios have seemed to be going away from this concept and giving us a legit BD release with merely a bonus DVD copy (and extras are present on BOTH discs). My hope is that will be the case here but we won't know until it's reviewed. If all the extras/commentary, etc are exclusive to the DVD edition included I'll be rather annoyed -- but it wouldn't keep me from picking it up on release date. Easily one of my favorite movies and one I watch every July 4th.
