Default Red Rock West (1994)

Anyone else a fan of the '90's thriller Red Rock West?! I first saw this years ago on VHS with an ex-gf, never having hear of the film before - and, I've been a fan ever since. Liked the dark neo-noir aspect, and IMHO it's one of Nic Cage's best films; also, it features Lara Flynn Boyle in her heyday, not long after her role in the iconic Twin Peaks TV show. Liked the whole storyline of a drifter down on his luck unwittingly getting involved in a nefarious plot in the middle of nowhere; very reminiscent of those old noir films from the 1940's/1950's...

IIRC, there have been several releases of the film on Disk; The last time I saw this was on a 2011 bare-bones DVD, which was thankfully in Anamorphic Widescreen - though the PQ could've been better.

This film could definitely use a quality Blu release...

Excellent call. I saw this film on VHS upon its release and have revisited it several times since. I would welcome a blu-ray release.

Great movie! I also like The Last Seduction from the same director.

I watched this last night on Now TV. It looked great in HD. I'm surprised we haven't had a release on Blu-ray, this and The Last Seduction would make a great double-bill!

Coming out from Plan B, a UK label is January. Wonder if Shout Factory also has this. Isn't it a Sony title?

Who has the USA distribution rights to this now? It was supposed to get a UK Blu-ray release by Plan B Entertainment but it looks scrapped.

This film is a masterpiece definitely deserves so much better. It's one of my favorite Nicolas Cage performances.

I have not heard any rumblings of a USA BD.

The German BD will play on a Panasonic UHD player if you press stop and top menu. It's a little trick, works for most Region B discs but won't for some.

Thanks for the info!
Not sure who has the rights or how one finds who owns the rights to any movie.
I may end up buying the out of print DVD for now.

For the USA market TVA Films last released it on DVD but it's a Canadian distributor, it was also released in a multi pack from Image Entertainment, Sony originally released it on DVD the first time. Concorde Home Entertainment in Germany has the distribution rights for BD, DVD, VHS.

I can't find any info anywhere online about who has the USA distribution rights to release a Blu-ray. It's not available to buy digitally or stream.

I would just buy the Blu-ray it's available on Amazon US for $19.99 plus shipping from likely a seller in Germany. It would give you time to buy a region free BD player.

I didn't know the DVD was OOP I actually have a sealed DVD copy of it but it's in rough condition. It's the original Sony release.

I do hope this gets a USA Blu-ray release because it's not available to buy on Digital or stream. It has me wondering whats going on with this film in the US market. TVA Films last released a DVD and it's a Canadian distibutor and Image Entertainment had it in a DVD multipack. I wish I knew who has the US distribution rights.

I am leaning right now with Image Entertainment because of this.

That set is OOP though and had Sony pressings in it so I still have no clue who has the US distribution rights for this film.

Anyone know?
