Wasn't expecting this deluxe treatment, I assume it will still be cut for horsefalls, though the extras are a big selling point as the German disc is pretty barebones.

"Waterloo" is Sony.

You're right. I don't know why I was under the impression it was with Paramount. Oh well..

Like most big budget Dino De Laurentiis pictures up to the mid-80s, it's Paramount in the USA but various distributors in the rest of the world - in the this case Sony in most of Europe and Mosfilm in the Soviet Union.

How severe are the horse fall cuts? Are we talking Conan the Barbarian extensive or Rambo III brief?

They're not especially noticeable as far as I recall. Certainly there aren't any "What just happened?" moments that stick out like Ulzana's Raid.

Well this is a happy coincidence, I only watched this for the first time the other evening on one of the Sony movie channels and thoroughly enjoyed it; the recreation of the battle [bar the odd inaccuracy] was absolutely amazing in my opinion, especially those awe-inspiring aerial shots. I think stuff like this is even more exciting for me these days than when I was a kid because such things tend to be done more with CGI now.

Anyway, I said to myself "I've got to get this on Blu-ray" and came on here....and saw this!!

"Soldiers, of my old guard, after 20 years… I have come… To Say… Goodbye.
France has fallen, so remember me.
Though I Iove you all, I cannot embrace you all.
With this kiss, remember me.
Goodbye my soldiers. Goodbye my sons and goodbye my children".

What an absolutely amazing performance by Rod Steiger, much imitated but never equaled.

If there's anything in this world about which I know positively nothing. It is agriculture.

Anyone willing to pick one of these up for me and send to the U.S.? (I may ask for one more title in that regard.)

Please PM me.

I see that Amazon UK is still not shipping to the U.S.? Does MediumRare have a website? I can't find it.

Thanks!

£38.68 shipped to Canada... not sure about it. I wish there are better options than Amazon.

Here's another option (I believe they ship to Canada), whether you consider them better is up to you.

Waterloo was released by Paramount in the US/Canada/Latin America, Mosfilm in Russia/Ukraine, and Columbia for the rest of the world. Mediumrare licenced it from Sony UK and are using their lovely looking 4k remaster.

About 10 years ago, Olive Films were looking into releasing Waterloo from their Paramount licence (since it was a title Paramount never released on DVD themselves). They dropped it when they discovered Paramount only had a heavily battered 35mm interneg, and Sony wouldn't ship out the needed film elements to create a new transfer nor loan out their existing HD master.
