Shochiku will release the new 4K restoration of Kenji Mizoguchi's The Story of the Last Chrysanthemum (1939) on Blu-ray in Japan on January 6th, 2016.

Shochiku has specified that the disc will include both Japanese and English subtitles:

There should just be a club where they automatically send me any blus of 4k restorations of classic Japanese films with English subtitles.

Shochiku seems to be one of the only Japanese companies that puts English subtitles on their releases.

But this is amazing. Will definitely have to get this.

Yes, without a doubt and it's definitely worth the upgrade if you ask me. I can't provide you with any screens though unfortunately. Perhaps someone else is able to.
