Default Problems with playing Last of the Mohicans with Cyberlink PowerDVD 10 Mark II Ultra

I have not been posting any negative playback problems for a while with computer based Blu-ray software since I normally do not use my computer Blu-ray software packages for watching Blu-ray’s. I prefer to use the OPPO BDP-83 Blu-ray player with a Pioneer plasma for most my Blu-ray watching. Sometimes when it comes to downloading HD trailers with BD-LIVE I will use a fast personal computer which is much faster than any standalone player when it comes to the BD-LIVE feature.

Playback problems with Cyberlink PowerDVD 10 Mark II Ultra

After watching “The Last of the Mohicans” on an OPPO BDP-83, I decided to go to my personal computer to use the BD-LIVE feature since the computer is faster for downloads. When I placed the Blu-ray in my computer BD-ROM drive the main title screen loaded. As soon as I selected the BD-LIVE feature Cyberlink PowerDVD 10 Mark II Ultra tried to load the BD-LIVE content but instead went to a black screen for several minutes. To make matters worse I rebooted the computer and then Cyberlink PowerDVD 10 Mark II Ultra could not load the main menu for “The Last of the Mohicans”. I tried rebooting the computer several times and I also cleared the BD-LIVE temp directory and still “The Last of the Mohicans” will not load to even the main menu to just watch the movie. Other Blu-ray discs are working fine. I might need to uninstall the Cyberlink PowerDVD 10 Mark II Ultra software and reinstall it again in order to get the disc to load. This is why the BD-LIVE and Blu-ray technology can be frustrating to consumers sometimes. Computer Blu-ray player software seems to sometimes have more bugs then standalone players.

TotalMedia Theater 3 Platinum is working just fine with the same exact movie

When using TotalMedia Theater 3 Platinum with “The Last of the Mohicans” movie the BD-LIVE feature works perfectly fine with fast downloads. It also plays the movie just fine.

For a few years I have been saying that for those that own a computer they need to own at least 2 different Blu-ray software players in order to play all the Blu-ray discs with extras. This still holds true in the year 2010. Once and a while one brand of Blu-ray software player works fine for certain titles while the other does not.
