Default What's The Biggest BLU Deal You Ever Missed?

Ever pass up a deal waiting to see if it would go cheaper, but it just went up in price?

Ever notice a thread about a deal too late to take advantage of it?

Ever waited for a Blu to get cheaper only to see it go out-of-print and then realize it hadn't been that much after all?

Ever paid more for a USED copy only to subsequently see it sell NEW for less money?

Ever scored a tremendous deal online only to have the store/seller say they can't send it after all?

Ever decided to skip Black Friday and then regret it once people start raving about all their deals?

We've all been there.

Come on and share. You'll feel better.

I passed on the Breaking Bad barrel went it was on sale for $99 a couple months ago and went with the $85 box set instead.

...definitely had some seconds thoughts after the sale was over.

I passed on The Sopranos complete series for $120 around Christmas. I've been waiting for it to drop again.

I do a lot of purchases in the opposite direction. Buy a Blu for $20, eventually open it when everyone's selling it for $10.

I think there was a Dexter blood slide complete series box set for $100 and I passed on it because of how bad seasons 5-8 were. But I like to collect things, even if the actual blood slide box is crap.

I only recently decided to collect the Disney Diamond Edition blu-rays.

I did acquire a copy of Peter Pan from a member here for $20, plus all the ones that are currently available.

Now trying to get a decent price on the rest is the challenge.

The funny thing is I fully realize I only want them so much because I know I can't have them.

The Foxconnect price glitch from last year. I didn't order ENOUGH to pay less, much less!!

I did however score on the TCM pricing error of the Halloween Complete Set, so that made up for it.

Haha, I'm the same way with the classic Disney movies. I've seen people's collections on YouTube and have such a strong desire to collect them, even though I only like about 4 of them.

As for biggest deal I missed, I would have to go with the BB barrel that was $99, which I only realized from reading this thread.

Not anymore, I check the "Hot Deals" all the time now. I used to buy almost all titles from Amazon until I finally looked at the Hot Deals section and saw some of the incredible deals (thanks to members of this website).

But yes, it does suck if you miss one.

The Dick Van Dyke set for $28.49. Debated getting it but decided not to as I knew I would never watch it. Don't really regret not getting it but if the deal ever comes along again I probably would buy it.

Edit: I'm expecting a lot of people will post about the $20 Halloween set from TCM shop. Luckily I was one of the few that got it.

Playing the waiting game with Media Blasters is very risky, with them you should pick up any release you want as soon as possible.

I have missed many great Blu-ray deals because I had already purchased the movie at a higher price. I have finally learned to be patient.

The only thing I can think of is The Dark Knight trilogy UCE that I passed up on BF. The tracker says it was down to $27.99 but I thought it was cheaper than that.

I wasn't familiar with Twilight Time when Christine was announced, and I decided that $30 was too much. That didn't end well. I do have it now, and while I didn't pay as much as many people did, it was more than $30 for sure. Live and learn...

That will be my goal when The Wire series comes out in June.

Will I be able to achieve this goal and wait until the price drops to a reasonable amount?

...probably not.

...I'm weak.

Default Amazon switch-and-bait?

This just happened to me last week....

I had ordered Arrow Films Thief from Amazon.uk last month (approx 15GBP delivered). I also ordered a copy of The Big Blue (a personal fave) from them as well. In fact, I've ordered a bunch of movies from Amazon.co.uk over the years but you know what? I received an email from Amazon last week (4 weeks after ordering) informing me my address was undeliverable, the blu ray has been returned to them and my refund was on its way (Thanks!). This, despite the fact my address has been on file with them for years (unchanged), and TADA! The Big Blue arrived without a hitch (funny how that works!). So now Thief is OOP and now will cost 3 times my original investment to get. THANKS AMAZON!

Did you specifically want the Limited Edition? If not, a standard release is coming out June 1st.
