Whats your HT plans for 2010 ?

Lets see what everyone has in store for 2010 for there Home Theater Myself so far it will be a new Display LED or Plasma "Still on the fence and undecided " and a separate amp probably a Emotiva XPA-3 . That should be it for me . So lets hear what everyone else has planned so we can be a bad influence on each other

im pretty down to make a projection theatre in my basement...hopefully ill gain nuff cash by the end of the year to do it...

My Xbox 360 is an old pre-HDMI model and I would like to replace it with an Elite console. Then I would have the older one to take back and forth to the fire station with me. It would also streamline my cabling a little bit since I'm currently using the component video cables along with an optical cable. Given the disaster that's behind my ET stand, every single cable that can be eliminated is a good thing.

I would also like to replace my PS3 with a new slim model giving me the option to bitstream. Then I would have my old one to move into the BR as a blu-ray player. I would also like to put a new TV in the bedroom, but nothing extravagant. Just something in the $500 range or so.

My most immediate addition will probably be a riser for my subwoofer.

That's all I have planned for this coming year.

I'm going to do the things I needed to do last year, but didn't get around to.

1) Some AMPS..... I'd like Tubes, but we'll see..... at least 3 to start with, for the L/R/C

2) New Subwoofer...... it's been over a year since I gave away my Def. Tech, and "stuff" came up, so replacing it hasn't happened....... I'd like a JL Audio Fathom, but we'll see what transpires.

3) New Carpet...... still can't believe I haven't gotten around to replacing that yet!


New room/building/etc. won't be in 2010, as much as I'd like it be

Adding the Onkyo PR-SC5507P pre-amp to my system and selling my existing Onkyo 805 a/v receiver once I've broken in the new pre-amp and of course, update the old gallery!

Looking to possibly get a new TV stand, something to replace my $11.00 metal stand, LOL. Also want to get a somewhat nice bookshelf to hold my Blu-ray collection without me having to find somewhere new to put them every time!

Here are the things I've already taken care of this year:

1. Just upgraded my receiver. Went from an Onkyo 605 to a Marantz 5003 - What a difference!!! Great for both movies and music.

2. Bought an Oppo upscaling DVD player, to give my PS3 a break and give my DVDs better upscaling. Plus, it doubles as a fantastic CD player and SACD player.

3. Bought banana plugs, something that GREATLY improved my experience switching between receivers. Monoprice all the way! Also got another HDMI cord - can never have too many.

My upgrades for this year are:

1. SVS PB13-Ultra subwoofer (black textured finish)

2. Emotiva XPA-3 or XPA-5 ( leaning toward the XPA-3)

3. Sony BDP-S560

4. Polk Audio CSi5 center speaker (to replace CSi3)

5. VTI amp stand

6. Sony KDL 46Z5100 or a 46" XBR9 both are 240Hz, but
I am leaning toward the "Z" series.

The tv and sub are gonna take a nice chunk of money, but I better get it before my wife changes her mind.

I want a new TV. I desperately need something with better black levels, but I'll have to wait and see how the new Panasonic V models come out. On the other hand, the TV can wait until prices drop. I would like to start investing in my front soundstage this year. I just need to decide on which B&W line to start auditioning.

I have a pretty hefty plan for this year!!

I know it has been a while since you guys have seen me on around here, but I've been fairly busy with school and what not. But I still lurk.

I have currently rearranged my room and surround setup that doesn't reflect what's in my gallery. It sounds tons better but:

I'm getting rid of my bed and am having a custom made twin extra extra long mattress and spring box made to double as a 'raised' couch. I say this because it will still be my bed, but will be something friends can sit on during movies. Bellow will be my custom made dresser and drawers underneath the bed. So I can finally get rid of my tall and long dresser. I'm wall mounting my current tv on the opposite side of the bed. However...

I'm mounting a mechanical screen that can drop down over that. My price range for a projector is between $2000 and $2500. I hope I can find one that suits my needs .

Next I'm going for another A2-300 for a dual sub setup. I have some ideas for placements, but only physical presence will tell.

With the addition of the bigger screen I'm going to utilize a new Oppo83 to provide a much better picture than the PS3 with the option to bitstream to utilize the superior DACs in my 805 over my current PS3.

And if money is still around after car payments on my 05 GTO, I'm going with a pair of theater seats. Should post pics throughout the year to show you guys! Cheers

lol... I caught the upgradeitis a couple of years ago, and the only reason I don't have it again is because I know I can't AFFORD to buy the speaker upgrades I want!

Oh well... something had to stop that from happening again

But it's so true, too. I just tell myself, OK, that's the last Blu-ray I'm gonna buy for a while.
