Hmmm, I assume thats the way you had it connected to the TV and you havent messed with any of the audio settings on the PS3?

What I believe Army of Dorkness is getting at, you have to go into the PS3 menu and tell it how you want the sound to come put. You have options to select the style of connection you want to use.

What kind of TV are you using? There may be a better way of doing this.

Correct sir, thats what I was getting at. It didn't seem like any cables had been changed.

Go to setting> sound settings> audio output settings and select audio input connector.

Once you get one of the unrecoverable "flavors" of the YLOD, it won't matter. Please forgive me, I'm just venting. Good luck.

Go to settings>audio settings>audio output (or something like this) settings>choose the bottom option and go through the process for audio.

Go to settings>display settings>video output settings>choose composite and go through the process for video.

You will have to have both the composite and hdmi cables connected so you can switch to the composite so the PS3 doesn't revert the settings back to HDMI for the video output.

or you can keep the Ps3 on HDMI video have hd graphics and only change the sound the the composite connections. Trust me it works this way I have done it before.

you need to reset your ps3. Shut down your PS3 then restart by pressing and holding the power button. This will reset your PS3 to its most basic 480p graphics mode so you'll be able to change it to component if you would like to use that.

Hopefully your TV has an audio output? If so, connect your PS3 to the TV with the HDMI cable, then connect the audio output from your TV to the speaker set.

Connect only the HDMI cable. (and red/white cable for audio connected to the Coby)

While the PS3 is in standby mode (red light) press and hold the power button until it beeps a few times.

This will reset the A/V connection. It should detect the HDMI cable in use. By the sound of it, your TV is only capable up to 720p.

Then you will have to make sure to tell the PS3 you want the audio to output via the Red/White cable.

Settings - Sound Settings - Audio Input Connector / SCART / AV MULTI
