Default Future Plans for PS3 BC and HD remake rumours

Interesting article. Not sure how legit it is.

http://www.thegameheadz.com///Home/A...1/Default.aspx

“the idea of updating every Non-backwards compatibile PS3 was one of the first to be considered. It also happens to be the one idea that cost the most to do. Almost every game needs specific emulation software, and in most cases that software needs to be update and tweaked just to get close to its original quality on the PS2. Not to mention no one makes money off a firmware updates”

“One of the ideas that almost made it to market, but is still in play, was to gradually place every PlayStation 2 game on the PSN for download, pricing most games at or around 9.99. This would be done much like what’s happing with the PS1 classics right now on the PSN. “

“The industry’s best developers are ReMastering their best games. Prince of Persia, Shadow of Colossus, and ICO are just the beginning. When fans see what Konami’s doing to the Metal Gear series, and what Square’s doing with Final Fantasy, they’re going to be very happy.”

Just when the FFVII remake rumors died down, let the discussions begin again Anyway, I'm all for it. I have a hard time justifying paying for games on the PS3 / Xbox360 if they are the same as the discs I already own. But if they are remastered (like the God of War 1 and 2 collection), then I would be in. I recently played all three Prince of Persia Sands of Time games - would've been nice to have those in HD

I just noticed the GoWI&II (HD Remasters) got added to the PSN but I already bought them on disc a LONG time ago so it would be pointless for me to buy them again - not to mention it takes up harddrive space. They really need to come out with a bigger hard drive (like a 1 or 2TB - my upgraded 300GB it over 2/3rds filled up already) or the ability to move games to an external drive even if it's just a back-up that can be restored later on the same PS3. That way you can move all the games you don't play on a regular basis to an external device so you don't lose the game yet free up space on the harddrive at the same time.

If this article is true, it would probably more likely mean FFX, X-2, and XII. But anyways, hopefully this means we're getting closer to having good PS2 games being remastered on PS3. (If they're done in the same way as the PS1 games are on PSN, then that would just mean a direct port, no remaster, no trophies, nothing except for just having the ability to actually play them on your PS3 without having to find like a 60GB or any backwards compatible PS3(unless you already have one).

Correct me if I'm wrong, but can't all PS1 games be played on any PS3? I thought the BC was only an issue with the PS2 games?

FFX & FFX-2 seems like an obvious set. Would love to have it.

Hmm, I didn't know that. I thought both were gone.

I'd be happier with this then just receiving certain titles remastered. I'm 99.9% certain there will be several PS2 games that I'd love to play remastered on my PS3 that will not be. Plus on top of that, the time frame it will take to get all those games I'd want to play.

First choice would be to have full backwards compatability.

I'd love to see Vice City get the HD revamp treatment Best in the series as far as I'm concerned.

I'd consider it but honestly would rather just have a new power brick for my PS2 and play it on that.

+1 on Vice City. Update the graphics a bit and add in San Andreas' improved controls

At first I thought this might be true, but the amount of grammatical errors on the editorial have me wondering.

The site definitely seems C grade, but if its just some ameteurish guy trying to exist in the world of Kotaku and Joystiq, as long as the interview was real, it should be true enough

love to see R* put out Manhunt and Red Dead Revolver

Come to think of it, I'm actually kind of surprised they didn't include Red Dead Revolver as a bonus for a special edition of Red Dead Redemption

I was about to post this xP

I was wondering as well about the validity of this but it would be a smart move by Sony. GOW Collection sold over 2 Millions copies. Imagine if MGS games or Final Fantasy games got remade the sales would be crazy.

I would be down for remasters of FFX, X-2, XII, and Okami. Although Shadow of the Colossus was in the number 1 spot. Thank God that is coming soon.

I had a dream that SCEI came out with a CECHR01 just like this:

It was 45nm Cell and 40nm RSX with GS+EE on board, the card readers, 6 USB (4 front, 2 rear), card readers, SACD capable BD drive, 802.11n wifi built in, HDMI 1.4, and your choice of either a 2.5" 500GB SATA or 256GB SSD. And a built in IR window!

Then I woke up.
