Talking is 40" too small for 3D potential?

Now Sony has 40NX710 here and it's pretty cheap comparing to other 3Dtvs.

One step up for 46" would be about $1000 I'm wondering if it's worth it?

I normally sit approximately 5-6 feet away from the tv set.

Is the screen size going to effect the depth of the 3D shown?

What's your feedback on this model?

This one question stuck in my head...

If I have a 40" TV and sit 4 feet away from it
and a 46" TV and sit 6 feet away from it
Is the 3D effects going to be the same?It would save a lot if I buy a small screen and sit really close. I know it sounds ridiculous but i'm really wondering.

Thank you for your time.

From what I've seen on demos, it all depends on potential. That, and your room size. In all 3D material, the depth will be there, but the effectiveness depends on screen size. If you feel that you want cheap Full HD 3D, then go ahead. A 46in is more effective in 3D, however, a 40in does deliver quite a good 3D effect for its price.

But please take my advice with a cup of salt. The only experience I had is with in-store demos. I do not own a 3D TV yet, but plan to in the near future.

I have been enjoying my 40" sony for a week. My viewing distance is 7 feet . 3D is pristine and crystal clear with no crosstalk/ghosting with games or 3D BDs.
There is a 3D depth adjusment in the menu to deal with your covergence preference. (more popout or more depth)

I used to own a 37 inch LCD when it came out...moved up to a 46 LCD..and now a 55 inch LED. All I can say is that the size does give the WOW factor and a big difference.

The 3D sound like it's going to be there for you...no matter which size you plan on buying...

I guess if I were you, I would go and test out a demo of a 46 in 3D. If it gives you that WOW factor, then you might want that size than a 40 in. Since you are going to buy a new set anyway, why not get the one that you'll be happy with? What if you buy the 40 in, and then regret that you didn't get the 46 in? Finalize the one that you want...and then watch for the next deal on it

Don't get something just because it's cheap and not the one you want....you'll find yourself disappointed and regret later on. You want to find the cheap and the size you want combo. Personally, I would not buy something just because it's cheap...unless you plan on selling it and making extra money from it

i would have to say that 40" is too small for movies, but probably just right for games so it depends on what you'd be using it mostly for. when the screen gets too big it's just a lot for the eyes to take in when playing games even without 3d.

as far as sitting closer to a smaller screen, the depth perception would probably be the same, but it might strain your eyes easier cuz it's so close. but if you're ok with that distance then it's cool i think

I went from a 73" Mits HDTV to a 65" Mits 3D HDTV just because it was better for the room size.
Got a great deal. 809.00 from Amazon. After I bought it for 1,098.00 they dropped the price like 3 times after it was shipped to me and they kept refunding me. Awesome deal. Awesome 3D TV.
