Now that Blu-Ray has had some serious market exposure, more and more of my "Must-Be-Released-in 1080P" films have been gracing the format: The Mission, Jacob's Ladder, Videodrome, Santa Sangre, Seven Samurai, as well as Elephant Man and Red Balloon from the UK are examples of films I have been waiting for since I received my PS3 (not to say I own all of them yet... but I will
![]() So, what are the films you've been waiting on for years that have yet to see a Blu-Ray release anywhere? My Current Top 10: Blue Velvet Barry Lyndon Vertigo El Cid (yeah I know there's an obscure, DNR'd German copy. Why would you want that?) Mary Poppins Perfect Blue (Animation) Princess Mononoke Solyaris (Original Tarkovskiy) Chinatown Aguirre: The Wrath of God Last edited by jacobb1313; 11-23-2010 at 06:51 PM. |

Grand Prix - seriously Warner, just port the damn HD-DVD already. You did it with Forbidden Planet and it worked great.
Ice Road Truckers seaons 1-2 - Probably will never happen despite the fact the entire series is shot in high defintion. Kill Bill Vol. 1 (Japanese cut) - For some reason even the Japanese blu-ray contains the north american cut only ![]() Nosferatu (both 1923 and 1979 versions) |

Forgot about that one! C'mon, Criterion. I know you have a Disney/Buena Vista thing going on, and with your supplements, essays, and marketing, you can give it the objective academic history-sensitive treatment it deserves.

Well, there are a LOT of movies I'd like to see hit blu-ray... and I'm guessing a lot of them won't come for a long, long time. But just for kicks and giggles:
Saved! Party Monster The Triplets of Belleville O Brother, Where Art Thou? The Ring Titan A.E. Police Squad! (tv series) Nosferatu (Original) Vampyr Monty Python and the Holy Grail Monty Python and the Meaning of Life (give us a PQ upgrade over the HD-DVD and I'll double-dip) And anything Tarantino which hasn't been released yet--by my count Jackie Brown and Pulp Fiction. (Yes, I know they can be imported, but I'd rather not.) A number of Disney titles that will come eventually, but probably not at a pace I'd like: Robin Hood, The Great Mouse Detective, The Adventurers, among others. A number of Studio Ghibli titles that will come eventually, but probably not at a pace I'd like: Whisper of the Heart, My Neighbors the Yamadas, The Castle of Cagliostro, and of course Spirited Away/My Neighbor Totoro/Howl's Moving Castle...and everything else |
