What BD titles have DTS MA 2.0?
I only know of one, Grumpy Old Men in the double movie BD. The stand alone release has Dolby True HD 2.0. I know some people cannot play DTS MA 2.0 for Grumpy Old Men & I wonder if there is a similar issue for any other titles with this audio format. |

DTS MA bumps down to regular DTS for those running older receivers via Toslink (fiber optic). The 2.0 is simply stereo with no sub. Edward Scissorhands is something like 5.0 (no sub). The DTS MA downmix to regular DTS is still a bit clearer than the origianl DTS. According to their website, DTS and DD THD do have higher numbers in the downmixing than the original formats so even for those working with older receivers, the sound is still a bit clearer with slightly better steering. I've noticed it.

It is the "2.0" list of movies I am interested in hearing about . That is "DTS MA 2.0", not Dolby True HD 2.0 or any other type of 2.0 or 4.0 or 5.1, etc.
I didn't mean for this thread to be a discussion of the merits or limitations of any of the audio formats. So, if anyone happens to know of any BD titles that are "DTS MA 2.0" please list them. Regards, Steve |

People easily forget that multichannel digital sound has been the rule for only the past 15 years. Absent those films released w/ analog multitrack mag stripe tracks and a few released in Cinema Digital Sound circa 1989-1991, nearly all films released prior to the introduction of Dolby Stereo Digital, DTS, and Sony Dynamic Digital Sound in 1992-1993 should be transferred to BD w/ 1.0 or 2.0 channel soundtracks. Mono or matrix encoded stereo is the intended audio for these films; faux 5.1 channel remixes are as unnecessary as "updated" special effects.

No, "Falling Down" features a Dolby TrueHD track, a 2.0 channel track as was intended for the film. Is there a reason why you are particularly interested in DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 channel tracks? The type of lossless encoding should be irrelevant.

[QUOTE=WiWavelength;4087353] Is there a reason why you are particularly interested in DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 channel tracks? The type of lossless encoding should be irrelevant.
Yes, there is a reason. Don't wish to go off topic in this thread which is for listing DTS MA 2.0 only titles. Please see the Grumpy Old Men thread pp 4 & 5 re audio issues. Thanks, Steve |
